Dejan Lovren will be left out of Croatia's Euro 2016 squad over his demand to be in the starting line-up.
The Liverpool centre-half rowed with Croatia boss Ante Cacic during last month's international break after he was named among the substitutes for a friendly against Hungary.
Lovren later threatened to snub this summer's finals unless he was given a guarantee he would start, but that move has backfired and he will not now be considered for selection.
Cacic, who met the defender over the weekend, said: "I already said when appointed as coach that the Croatia squad is above any individual. I will not give up that view for anyone.
"In Croatia's locker room there is no place for ultimatums, there should be respect for the Croatian jersey, teammates and coach."
Lovren has been told the door is open for a return to the squad in future, and Cacic said: "I hope he will accept the decision in a mature manner and realise that even the best players put themselves in the service of the collective first and then think about themselves".

Our Dejan is a bit of a prima-donna, isn't he? He is probably (hopefully) smart enough not to try stuff like this with Klopp, but still this episode doesn't put him in a best light, about to miss the Euros over a bit of hurt pride. I wonder if we'll see a nastier side of him if, say, Joe Gomez is preferred over him for an important game.

Didnt their manager throw a hissy fit because Lovren finished warming up even though he wasnt supposed to be coming on to the pitch during the international friendly game?

Their manager sounds like a powerhungry bellend. This ultimatum stuff doesnt put Lovren in the best of lights though..

It's a cunning Klopp ploy so that he can get a full pre-season with him.
Klopps not happy with him either. Klopps blanked him at the end of the Stoke game and hugged instead some unknown Stoke player, wouldn't surprise me if he is sold.

Anyone else think Lovren looks Australian?

He already is and and been most of the season. People just see last season and his fee and judge him by that. If this had been his first season nd the fee less we'd be saying how he has been a good buy.

I think hes really excellent. I think if he had a better partner he would be one of the best.

I mancrush this fucker bad.

Hes been fairly epic this season , certainly from Southampton onwards he's Been in the top three of each match

He's been one of more consistent players this year alongside Clyne and Milner. It's good to see him turning his Liverpool career around. It couldn't have got much worse. He needs to step up to another level if he's to be part of a core which takes us to where we want to be.

Swap Sakho with Matip next season.

A Lovren - Matip pairing could be very good.

Lovren was immense last night. After missing that pen in Besiktas to matchwinner yesterday.
Highlights his career turnaround.

Sakho is a bigger liability than Lovren.
Our defence were shambolic yesterday and I don't think it's possible to determine anything based on that performance.
