You find it hard to understand Rafa?
I'm assuming you have remembered to take out International breaks?Considering the season runs for 39 weeks and we play max 65 games, we don’t even play twice a week over the course of a season.
He even understands Scouse!Impressed with his English. I have some Italian but nowhere near as much.
I also speak some Italian. Buppa de beppa?Impressed with his English. I have some Italian but nowhere near as much.
fixedUnusual for an Italian to speak such good English.
He must be a Russian spy. Wait until his kids find out that they come from Zenit St. Petersburg.
I also speak some Italian. Buppa de beppa?
He was superb! His Dad wasn't just any footballer. Enrico Chiesa was top class, loved watching him play, lightning fast. Played for Parma in the 90s
I found that interview harder than others I’ve seen with him. Obviously his grasp of the language is strong but his delivery was surprisingly hard to listen to, imo. I expected better after so long in England. You find it hard to understand Rafa?
I didn’t say I couldn’t understand him, I said I was surprised it wasn’t easier. You really have to listen and translate what he’s trying to say. I would imagine a lot players would struggle being coached by him based off that interview.I think it's on you guys if you can't understand Rafa. His speech is at a level where TV producers allow him to speak at length (that last part they scarcely have a choice about).
Ironically I’ve travelled the world and taught thousands of people on very technical topics most of whom English was their second language and I’d put Rafa right up there with some of the hardest to understand.Dreamy finds it hard to understand most folks tbf.
Thanks for this, It really helps me understand why I find it hard to understand RafaGaffaAll languages sometimes use what's known as "elision" (the partial or complete omission of particular letter sounds to help spoken language run more fluently) but Spanish does it more than most and this carries over into the way native Spanish speakers speak English (and, I would assume, other languages). For example I also find Arteta quite hard to follow at times.

There you go. I also didn’t say I couldn’t understand him. I said I was surprised how poor his spoken English is to understand.I don't think i've ever failed to understand a comment or sentence from Rafa. Bizarre. Ironically I haven't travelled the world teaching thousands of people very technical topics.

I can't imagine.
He sounds like a bog standard Spaniard speaking English, except he is a much more advanced speaker than most.I don't think i've ever failed to understand a comment or sentence from Rafa. Bizarre. Ironically I haven't travelled the world teaching thousands of people very technical topics.
