The Egyptian King

It's interesting - Mane and Bobby are the same age, but have essentially hung up their competitive boots.

Mo keeps on being one of the best in Europe. Again, roughly same age.
Unpopular opinion maybe but I think Klopp's tactics is the reason why some of our former players experienced a massive drop in performance levels.
Mane, Fabinho, Firmino, Hendo and Gini barely made it to 30 before they all suddenly slowed down.

One reason why Salah still looks good is because I don't think he played as much in his younger days. Still has gas left in the tank.

Totally agree. Klopp was foot to the floor on the gas pedal the whole time. Get the absolute most out of each player but a huge cost.

I think it speaks incredibly highly of Mo's dedication that he's avoided the same fate thus far. At same point it seems inevitable and, to that end, I wish we could spell him off late in games a bit more often.

Yep, it’s Salah’s standout quality. His drive and natural fitness levels are unmatched. It’s why I’ve always been on the give him a 4 year deal train. He’ll be playing til he’s 40.

He’s also a fitness freak and has been for years. The earlier you do that the longer you extend your ability to play at the very top.

Straight from the horses mouth is not a good sign, oh well a hunt for a replacement is on for the summer.

Quote from the end of the piece

I think he also wants to extend his time at Liverpool. During the interview he again said it was his ‘last year’ with the club. But I believe he doesn’t want that to be the case. Whatever happens, he seems determined not to let the issue get in the way of his performances and delivering another Premier League title for Liverpool.

I really don't like these players fecking up our momentum with their contractual games with other clubs and in the media. Am I right in saying they wouldn't dare do this when Jurgen was in the club?

Edit: He's not a great bluffer. You can tell he wants to stay.

Salah used this playbook last time out. Even gave the green light to openly mock Klopp on twitter.

Jeez, this is getting into ‘risking our momentum’ territory…here we are in January and our key players are no nearer to sorting their future at the club…mental
He also said he doesn’t want to remember this season to be about his contract and wants to win the PL to make it an unbelievable season.

it’s more the media than the players.

He didn’t really confirm it’s his last season. He said it’s his last season because they’re far away from an agreement.

He also laughed out loud before saying it. As Woland says its all part of the dance and song. He'll sign a new deal and will probably get close to what he wants in the end as well.

Mo is the most media savvy and intelligent star footballer I've seen. He's eloquent and smooth as fk. Plays the media, the club, and the fans brilliantly.

100%
All the players look upto him, reportedly has huge say in the dressing room including the professionalism he has in the club. If he wants to say the negotiations aren't close then he can do so, I don't get the hysterics here.

He probably already had contract offers on the table back in Nov or even earlier. We were all just kidding ourselves that someone like him would have no other realistic options.

His constant interviews saying he is more out than in is likely a cry for us to step up or he is leaving. He still wants to stay.

Come 2025, he said he is out. He might have made up his mind or know the contract from us is not coming.

I think that's that, we are a shambles. At least he has said he wants to win the league for us this season. I hope he keeps to his word.

All the best Mo.

There’s a very realistic scenario where FSG is perfectly satisfied with either the league or champions league this year with no design to keep Mo or Trent.

Cash in the reward and TV money, sponsorship bonuses, and go find a cheap young replacement for Mo. it’s like winning the lottery for them.

From a sporting perspective we are the best option unless he goes to another English club.

I would strongly suggest we are the opposite. Our owners run a very tight knit financial plan for the club which keeps us in an enviable position as a top performer on the pitch and on the balance sheet. We do not have any concerns re. PSR and we are not making swathes of staff redundant. We've stayed at the top of the game and within the financial rules whilst pushing through two major construction programmes that will serve us well for the next fifteen years.

There is a point at which we cannot afford to pay the three top earners what they want for the length of time they want it, because it will blow that sustainability. Eventually Virgil and Mo will either sign what's on the table or move on. That may not be the decision that makes everyone happy but I'll be reasonably confident it is a prudent position we are offering

City - possibly but my god that would be controversial. Also the chances of them getting sanctioned must be reasonably high
United - lol
Newcastle - why?
Chelsea - would they cough if we don't? There plan as shambolic as it is, seems to be founded on getting young talent at lowish wages on long term contracts
Arsenal - definitely a no. They are even tighter on the purse strings

PSG or Madrid or Saudi are the only realistic places surely
