The Egyptian King

PSG and Saudi are equally pointless and Madrid have just signed Mcrappe. That's why he's making all this noise. His options aren't as good as what he already has.
This is why I think the club have a take it or leave it contract on the table. They’re getting bummed know he has nowhere to go.

Honestly, i can't be bothered anymore if all 3 of them leave, just as long nothing comes between jeopardising our title run. It's all that matters only.

They can all leave after the bus parade this summer.
Yeah, am getting that feeling too. Do not think we have experienced this level of publicity regarding contract extensions since ... I cannot remember is been so long. All 3 and Madrid need to shut the fuck up and just do their jobs.

I would strongly suggest we are the opposite. Our owners run a very tight knit financial plan for the club which keeps us in an enviable position as a top performer on the pitch and on the balance sheet. We do not have any concerns re. PSR and we are not making swathes of staff redundant. We've stayed at the top of the game and within the financial rules whilst pushing through two major construction programmes that will serve us well for the next fifteen years.

There is a point at which we cannot afford to pay the three top earners what they want for the length of time they want it, because it will blow that sustainability. Eventually Virgil and Mo will either sign what's on the table or move on. That may not be the decision that makes everyone happy but I'll be reasonably confident it is a prudent position we are offering
We finally have a chance to be the dominant team for the next 2-3 seasons at least and we tear up the team immediately for what... to save some money?

Other teams might have a worse balance sheet, but even with that, they cannot find the performance to challenge for trophies. Meanwhile we have the ability to secure the proven top performers but we give it all up to be the winner of all balance sheets.

What are we here for if we are not in the business of winning trophies?

Not to save money, to not spend money we don't have.

I'm not privvy to the numbers but I fail to see how 300k a week to 450k a week is a big problem. Just win a few more trophies. An additional 7-8 million a year isn't going to bankrupt us.

Yeah and it's probably only for 2 years each for Virg and Mo, a combined of maybe an increase of 30-40m for 2 years in the wage bill. We made that off Fabio and SVDB alone.

It's a totally different case from Trent, both players have obviously stated a desire to stay, so how can money be a problem when they are our best players enroute to winning a league while blowing past the rest of the league? I find it hard to fathom.

Yeah, if another player produces as many goals as Salah does, they can get more too, nobody can currently claim to use him as benchmark though
Yep, if Diaz during his contract negotiations is on Salah numbers then it's great situation for us in one way. It all depends on market, whom else we have and availability of similar players on market.

It’s not about matching their wages it’s if they get a 20% rise everyone else will want one.

True, but players could say " I realise I am not at Mo's level so I'll accept 75% of his salary"

A rising tide floats all boats
We aren't talking about annual pay rises here. These are renewals which come around every 3-5yrs. Also, as mentioned it's about protecting player value for resale.
If Diaz is doing 3rd of Salah numbers but wants 75% pay rise then surely our famed data scientists will tell him to do one.

Mo is in a league of his own. I don't think this should result in wage inflation.

Did you and I get an increase when Elon's net worth goes up? Different levels

I personally would love wee Calvin when contract renewal time occurs, to use Mo as the barometer.

Cunt'd get laughed out the building

Sorry, but since when has that meant anything when players and their agents decide what contract terms to ask for? Wage structure-busting increases WILL bring demands for major increases from other players regardless of the merits of the argument in each case. It's a totally legit factor for the owners and the management to take into consideration.

Mo is already paid top whack and is on double what Gakpo and Jota get. Currently he’s on 6x what Diaz gets! However, I’d guess the issue is more about length of contract. If Mo was asking for a 2 year extension on the same terms I doubt there’d be a problem. Even a modest hike. I’m guessing the wish from Mo’s side is 4 or more years at a higher income not aligned to performance. I’d imagine the club wants to protect itself by offering a shorter contract with reward tied to performance

There are plenty of other players in the squad whom we need a sod of a lot more and who would therefore have a stronger case.

Mr van Dijk, congratulations on your new £350k/week contract.

Now Mr Konate, it’s time to look at your situation as the other half of our first choice centre back pairing.

Rubs hands gleefully.

They'll say it anyway though. At best it'll be a major pain in the Arsenal to deal with. At worst, if a few other clubs target one each they might be able to afford what the players want.

I dont think anyone's in a position to say x gets this therefore i deserve that, and expect that makes any difference.

Its what other clubs will pay them that sets the market, not what their team mates get.
Could this be what the club are doing? Offering X in wages and Y in length knowing no other club will match it.

Of course players will see what Salah Trent and VvD get signed and their agents will agitate for more. That’s what agents do. And FSG can’t then use the argument of a “structure”, in those negotiations if FSG are breaking that financial structure themselves.

It’s practically certain that overpaying these lads and caving to their antics will see more wage inflation.

With a bonus of more shit housery from players and agents like we’ve seen from Salah this last month.
