The Donkey

What about Salah's las 12 games, what about Diaz's first 12 games. Yes he did fuck-up in a quite a few games but he was easily our 2nd best forward.
I know Jota is our deadliest striker but he is worryingly injured all too often
52 pages of dunking on him, he is our players until he is sold and he has the potential to do what he does for the international team, may be Slot can get that out of him.
They’re all on my sell list. Not good enough.

I'm pretty amazed at this attitude TBH. They failed to convert towards the end of the season (when the whole team dropped off - not just the forwards) but when everyone was saying Top 4 would be great that team went to the last month of the season with a chance of the title as well as being one of the very few teams in Europe to have all 5 forwards all scoring in double figures. Surely spreading goals across the team is better than having them consolidated in a couple of high scorers?

I'm interested to see what Slot can do because I though Klopp probably moved them from position to position too much instead of concentrating on their strengths (or failing to resolve weaknesses).

Data shows Nunez and Diaz aren’t clinical enough. The eyes show they can’t play intricate football which leads to us losing the ball. Salah doesn’t have the press (even less than in his pomp) to help us keep the ball in the final third which then opens us up to counters. He’s also losing more pace and ability to beat a man. These 3 are elements to our system being broken.

The Data also show that Nunez is on the end of the most chances created and gets in an attacking position more than anyone else, hits the woodwork more than anyone else and it shows that not one player in the league creates more chances than Salah. Only 3 players have more assists and goals despite Salah playing less minutes. Salah has the most touches in the box.

You can use data both ways.

Diaz is a winger that scored in double figures, wingers aren't clinical by nature. Nunez was one of the leagues top 'scorers + assist' makers and his record in Portugal and on Int. duty demonstrates that he can be much better under a system more suited to his better skills. I want to see what and how Slot can do to improve his conversion rate so we can almost guarantee another season for him. Hopefully bringing a smile to my face whilst the haters go apoplectic.

Yes I know some will bring up his transfer price tag (€85m), but then Havertz (€75m), Grealish (€118m), Lukaku (€113m), Pepe (€80m), Isak (€70m), Antony (€95m), Sancho (€85m), Hojland (€74m) are all comparable and there's only one of them I'd take over Nunez ... and he's Jota level always injured so even then ... no.

Selling him and paying a lot for another striker, as the above demonstrates, is no guarantee. He'll get 20+ next season but let's hope his conversion rate improves under Slot so it's even higher than expected.

I was pretty keen on selling Nunez and moving on, but when you look at the striker market there arent a lot of great options out there. I'd maybe sell him if we could get Sesko. But other than that there arent that many strikers that stand out. Might be better to keep him one more season and see what happens.

You'd hope that our new fitness regime could make Jota available for more games next season.

You showed he’s not clinical enough. He is given ample opportunity and doesn’t take it.

I didn’t bring in Salah’s data but his physical abilities are clearly on the wane and style of play impacts the whole system of the team. He also fluffed shit loads second half of the season.

Guess which two forward players from the top three had below xG non penalty goals.

His physical abilities and performances were hampered by injury and the AFCON in the second half of the season.
Still has those stats.

Nunez has underperformed his xG in every season in Europe. Apart from one. It’s not every now and then. It’s the norm.

The Uruguay game showed we need to deflect balls off Donkeys body into the goal. Get Robertson, Salah, Trent and Bradley firing crosses onto his body so hard he doesn't have time to think or move and we may have some success.

Given the snooker-esque calculations needed by the wide men I'd be up them receiving the goal bonus.

So do I mate, I wish Salah, Diaz, and Cody had scored some of those sitters in the games we drew and lost, and also I wish Mac10 had not played so poorly in those DM roles and concede goals.

To be fair to Cody, he didn't miss that many sitters and was very much in and out the team, and played in a variety of positions.

Mac, He's not a 6 and he more than made up for poor performances when he was moved forward.

Diaz, his dad was kidnapped and I'm probably too harsh in my criticism as who knows what lasting worry that leaves.

Salah he was away at AFCON and then injured, but still put up good numbers in the league and still scored regardless of performance.

Darwin was good for a bit, but still missed loads, then went fucking awful and missed as many. I like him as a player, I like him s a character, but you cannot be that consistently shit in front of goal at this level
