The Cricket World Cup Thread

It was indeed a fantastic contest and the ICC must been delighted, as nothing to cause much excitement had happened in the World Cup up to now.

Although Strauss made 150, I would award England's MOM to Bresnan, because if it hadn't been for his fantastic spell at the end of India's innings, when the Indian batsmen were looking invincible, India would have scored 160+ 🙂

Yes, Bresnan stood up very well in a diffficult situation, but Strauss' innings was amongst the best ever by an English batsman in one day cricket.

Ireland in with a sniff here against England. They need 100 off 15 overs with 5 wickets left - it's unlikely but do-able.

64 needed from 10 overs with 5 wickets left.

The problem will be nerves - this would be a massive win for Ireland and they could bottle it if they lose a wicket or two. I'll start to believe we can do it if we get within 30 runs with 3 wickets in hand and even then it would still be 50/50.

O'Brien gets his 100 - according to someone on Betfair he broke the world record for the fewest balls for 100 by 16 balls!

Squeaky Bum time, Cusack out for 47. Ireland need 54 from 51 balls with 4 wickets remaining. We need to keep these 2 together for at least 25 runs.

When i was in the bookies @ 2pm, England were 1/250 to win the game, they were about 100-5 at the time i think.

What a win, well done the spud munchers. England have got fucking no chance of winning this WC with their bowling attack.

heart rate is down to less than one twenty now.

that was brilliant

What a knock by that Irish lad (quickest 100 in wc history)!

He'll be playing for England soon 😉
[/quote]to be fair there are probably a couple of the English lads who could improve the Irish team 😉
