When i was in the bookies @ 2pm, England were 1/250 to win the game, they were about 100-5 at the time i think.

What a win, well done the spud munchers. England have got fucking no chance of winning this WC with their bowling attack.

Ireland were 400/1 at one stage, some comeback.

Thanks for the updates Dancing Brave. I was watching but afraid to interrupt
Haha, I wasn't watching but following it on the betfair forum whilst at my desk - I reckon that's as nerve wracking as actually watching it. I missed the last over because of a meeting but got a text from a friend with the good news.

Am I right in thinking this victory represents the biggest succesful run chase in WC history?

Am i right in thinking to match this sporting achievement England would need to beat Ireland at hurling?

Only if they gave us the captain of their hurling team first.

Actually Rosco, if you take into account population size and adjust accordingly, it would be more similar to Liverpool beating Ireland at hurling.

Fantastic record-breaking innings by Kevin O'Brien. Fortunately for him his hairstyle was covered by his helmet, otherwise his credibility would have been seriously dented. ;D

The hairstyles were part of a charity fundraiser.

They should make a movie about the Irish cricket team and call it 'Cool Innings'

;D

brilliant.

wat a win!

South Africa crushed Netherlands ... 4th largest loss in World Cup history and another ton from AB.

Playing solid cricket, and finally a decent spinner in Tahir (Pakistani born).

Pakistan dead and buried bowled out for 184 in 43 overs but BOOM BOOM with five wickets and a brilliant run out restricts Canada to only 138.
Pakistan making things exciting in their games 3 out of 3

I shed a tear watching that final over I'm not ashamed to say.

Ireland beating England at cricket. Ha fucking ha times infinity.

The most rabidly enthusiastic cricket fan I ever knew was Irish. Passed away in his mid-thirties unfortunately, but he'll be knocking back the Bushmill's up there in Heaven over this.

Shaun Tait swinging it round the houses gets Dilshan early. This game should be a belter.

Have England handed over the ashes yet?
Hmm! Shame that a team which has achieved so much should perhaps be ending their winter so ignominiously (no disrespect meant to Ireland). They do deserve a heroes' welcome when they get home but what are the odds if they don't make the quarters (which they still should with nothing more than a win against Bangladesh). The hosts should love England, though. A boring tournament so far without them.

England are 21-3 after 5 overs ... Peterson with the wickets of Strauss, Peterson and Bell.

Great start from the Proteas ...

England all out for 171 with 4 overs to spare. It's a spinner's wicket, so if England have any chance of winning this, Swann will have to take a load of wickets.
