The big six.

Spurs - look they are struggling already. If they lose Modric they are toast. 6th.

Arsenal - they have a lot of top players injured, and will buy (At least two excellent players) before the end of the transfer window, but by the time they get themselves back together the top three at least will have flown. 5th.

Chelsea - will buy themselves back into it and with Modric they will be right up there at the end of the season. 4th.

Liverpool - we've plugged the gaps. if we get another player or too before the window closes we will be even stronger. We have the manager, we have the first team and we still have SG to come back. Top 4 for certain. Challengers for sure. Title winners - United & City will be very tough to beat, our matches against them could even be the deciders. I agree with whoever said that the winning points total will be very high this season.

Arsenal will be up there in or around the top 4 at the end.

Top 4 from bottom, YES.

The one thing I think we have in our favour over the other teams in the top six this season is pepe. In him, we have a keeper who is capable of saving us untold points in the same way Schmeichael did for man u. Arsenal, Spurs, and man u all have decidedly dodgy keepers who will cost them vital points at some stage of the season. Man C also have a decent keeper, but he is a little inexperienced at the very top flight, and I think he too may cost them at some stage. If we can keep the momentum going, then we can heap maximum pressure on the manc clubs at the top.

I think Sczenenentnznxzajnxjandaksejfbiy will be a great keeper for Arsenal, they just need a solid back four.

City, United, Chelsea and Liverpool seem to be the early favourites for the top four positions.

Back to a 'big four' then.

I reckon City and United will be competing for the title with us scrapping it out for third with Chelsea.

Arsenal's main worry is that they only have one style of play. As was said on sky yesterday, many teams will lose at old trafford maybe one nil but utd will have had to work a lot harder and play a lot better than they did yesterday. This is because teams will come there and be compact and hard to break down. Not just try to go at united with a load of inexperienced players. It was absolute suicide by Wenger yesterday. They need a couple of signings and most importantly a Plan B, ie not tippy tappy all the time. Still have a decent squad and with a couple of signings could be there or thereabouts for top 4 if things don't keep going as well for us.

Of all the teams so far Man City have impressed me the most, especially yesterday. Nasri and Silva looked like they had played together for years and linked up beautifully along with Aguero and Dzecko. Dzecko also coming good and looking like the player he was in his 2nd season at Wolfsburg. That means 4 genuine goal threats in the front 4 positions, along with Toure who pitched in with his fair share last year. All this with a bench to die for. Maybe, maybe they will still be a centre half short but they are certainly massive challengers this year.

United have looked good, in their 2 home games (well, 2nd half against Spurs) and will most likely not drop very many points there again this year. Although again they struggled to beat West Brom away in the end after starting well. Only 1 shot on target in that game. If they drop as many points away from home as last year then the title could be Citys. I don't think Wellbeck is as good as people are making out but in Chicarito and Berbatov they have two other excellent choices to play alongside Rooney. It's been scary how easily Young has slotted in there, has been excellent. Same can be said of Phil jones and Smalling has realy impressed me at RB, made the position his own for the season in my book. Won't always get away with midfield of Anderson and Cleverly. Especially not in tough away games and when teams play 5 in midfield against them especially. Obviously will still be challenging come April unfortunately.

Chelsea have started slowly but have still got 2 wins and a draw. The key for them will be Mata, who looked like he slotted in unbelievably well in his 20 minutes on Saturday. Exactly what they have been missing imo. If they get modric too, which let's face it they probably will then they will without a doubt be up there challenging come April also. Modric and Mata could be the key to getting Torres back to form unfortunately. Starting slowly isn't a bad thing either, Mourinhos first season they didn't really start playing well for a while either.

Spurs. Meh, still haven't signed a much much needed striker, winger, centre mid(prob get scott parker though). Aaron Lennon is absolutely rubbish. Bale looks out of form and short of confidence. Modric will be sold. Redknapp proving how "tactically astute" he is by starting a midfield of bale modric kranjcar and lennon to provide protection against Nasri Silva Aguero and Dzecko. Wow. They will be lucky to be top 6 and may only do so because who else will get there, Villa? not judging by Saturday, Everton no funds? Hardly, Fulham, started terribly, Newcastle? Nah, Sunderland? So many new players again and a bad start too.

Liverpool for me have an unprecedented opportunity to get back into top 4. Through our own improvement and also the falling backwards of Arsenal and Spurs. And we never know, not having Europe this year, meaning that we can concentrate completely on Domestic competitions could be a massive blessing and maybe we can give it a real go and challenge for the title. Think it's possible but will be a big ask obviously with City's squad, Chelsea probably improving on last year and Uniteds know how and confidence to do it. We certainly have an outside chance though if all goes well and Luis stays injury free!

Yup, class goalie in the making

I think a key factor will be city, chelsea, arsenal ability to compete in the game immediately after the CL game. it proved a massive distraction for spurs and spurs have europa games which is even more energy sapping. we can concentration on the league and have a full week of rest after each game.

gerrard should be viewed as a bonus and shouldn't be brought back into the team (as a starter) until 100% fit.

Good spot George and Kenny isn't in the habit of rushing players back who are returning from injury.

Thanx in no small part to Suarez that we haven't missed Gerrard that much.

Who said we should rush him back?
[/quote]

noone but ronald has him a '+' and I think we should view him as a bonus. one of the reasons I think we'd be daft to sell meireles.

He's defo getting loads of practice.

just seen the arsenal - man u highlights. fuck me, the arse were as shit as the scum were quality. dont think we have a right to say that suarez is a better player than rooney at the moment, he might become a better player but that ugly shrek bastard sure can play some amazing football. eurghh that felt dirty, i need a shower. united will walk the title, with a young squad, city will finish second, think its between us and chelski for 3rd place, god knows whats going to happen with arsenal, theyre free falling at the moment and as a football fan its a sad thing to see, then again as a liverpool fan it only means good things for us.

Can't be arsed to look for a "city" thread and they dont need a new one but....Just read an article in the paper about City, the sheikh has spent app. 1M pounds per day on them for the last 3 years. I thought Chelsea were very bad for the financial good of the game but... 1M a day??

How can that ever be a good investment? Even if the sweep all before them they cannot posiibly make a return on that, United or Barca couldnt make a profit doing that!! its barmy. 1 billion pounds in 3 years!

Considering that LFC itself, one of the biggest teams in the world, was sold for about 300M 8 months ago.... 1,000,000,000£.... its beggars belief.

Even if they can get to a dominant winning position they simply do not have the fan base to make it pay in any way or form, HOW can the financial fair play rules stop this level of financial doping? We all know the game is corrupt and that money talks but the crash from all this is going to be as huge as it is inevitable.

Even their 400M sponsorship deal cannot possibly pay, its not as if an outside investor is giving them money its them giving money to themselves! If you ignore the financial fair play aspect to it ( as im sure it will be ignored) it is still the Sheikh losing money.

I just dont get it.
