Some of you guys have great knowledge of world football, so in your opinion who are players we should be watching this season?

Dybala would be my dream signing I think. Just that bit of flair I still feel we lack having lost Suarez.

Ruben Neves we were linked to and he looks amazing for his age. Danilo at Braga slightly less so, but there's just something cool about him.

Keita Balde Diao at Lazio is another one, I think he's struggled a bit this season, but has the potential to be amazing. I think we were linked to him last summer, but he might be available a bit cheaper now, as he hasn't figured into the first team quite as much.

Casemiro, now at Porto from Real Madrid. Thought his style was similar to Emre before we signed either, looks like he's been getting regular minutes playing as Porto's enforcer after they sold Fernando.

Wijnaldum is a name that's been around for awhile, but he's still only 24. Always thought his style of play would translate well to the Premier League.

I dont think we should be wasting money on fancy wide forwards who may or may not adapt.

We have a good number of quality options in Sterling, Ibe, Markovic and dare i say Ojo. I wouldnt spend our resources on getting an AM as well. Coutinho is playing well and Lallana os an able backup and it is too soon to pull the plug on Lallana and Markovic.

There are other areas where we are in desparate need for improvement.

Lacazette.

Based on nothing but Football Manager, Lucas Romero at Velez in Argentina.

I agree. There are always loads of great young AMs around but we seriously don't need them. Ojo will make it with us, almost certainly, and there's even Wilson who looks very promising.

I think a top class striker, and a centre half to allow Can to move into midfield, are our biggest priorities.

We've been linked to a few young DMs and I'd say that would be a good move for the future, too.

I would like somebody to scout Danilo from Porto for us. I think he could be another Emre Can.

The fullback? Been my impression that he's always a wide player. Good fullback though, but wouldn't come cheap at all, he's a well known quantity.

Unless you mean by talent or something relative to Emre?

I'm a bigger fan of signing exceptional athletes than technicians at young ages, those guys can be coached up to fill whatever role we need exactly as we'd like. I think that's the reason we're seeing players like Can, Sterling, and Ibe succeed, they have the physical ability to back up the talent.

AM tends to be the position where technicians who don't have the pace or power end up, and they have to compensate with skill. But players who can't physically beat players of a higher caliber when entering a new league, players who rely on their technical ability are at a real risk for failure unless they're a cut above. And if it doesn't work out, you can usually recoup a greater amount of your fee for an athlete than a technician, as lower level clubs can get more out of them. Relatively solid fees for Carroll, Assaidi, or even Babel speak to that.

Interesting post.

I don't see the athlete/technician thing as a sharply delineated "either/or" though. To make it to the top, those athletes have to have a shedload of technique too. Incidentally I wouldn't have seen Assaidi or (especially) Babel falling into the "athlete" category as opposed to the "technician" one.

Babel was very much the athlete.

Assaidi I agree though I'm guessing he's probably going off the fact that he's got a bit of pace.

I want us to go ALL IN for a top class midfielder, someone like Modric, Gündogan. Just throwing names. Someone who has good technical abilities with the ball and sharp quick thinker to turn defense into attack.

If have more money, a Clyne would do for me.

Also, if we have even more money to spend, get Lacazette or even Dyabala would do for me.

I've said it before but id be looking for players in their early twenties off the Europa League teams.

Berisha and Sabitizer at Salzburg
Carillo at Sporting
Feyenoords midfield

Etc etc.

Memphis Depay is very good. Top scorer in the Eredivisie this season and he is not a striker. Would slot in nicely on the left of our front 3.

Hmmm. He has an impish, raw, Suarez like side to his play. Likes a meg. Interesting.
