Suso vs the world

I agree, Suso is quicker and has more to his game, but he must have a catalogue of Alonso games at home. It's eerie at times. He moves just like Alonso.

Hey, that could be a good song for Suso. "He's got the moves like Xabi"

Well lets not get ahead of ourselves, as he doesn't, but throughout that entire clip I kept think, Xabi, Xabi, Xabi, you're right it's Eerie, and a fantastic thing.

I don't know what to make of Suso, I really like him, and he's clearly got fantastic talent, but it seems with the signing of Alberto, we're just condeming him further down an already packed list. I also wonder, where does his best position lie? Central midfield, attacking midfield, the wing? I'd love him to be the new Xabi Alonso, but he doesn't have a strong enough defensive side to his game, so he needs to stay further forward, but the way he sprayed those passes around in that clip, I worry that would be wasted further forward. One thing is for sure though, we need to see him take a step up this season, be it for us, or a loan team.

Suso needs a solid loan spell where he plays week in and week out. Bench duty won't develop his game. Gym and playing time will.

So you agree Alberto's signing hinders Suso

the clip against ghana was very interesting, suso showed showed promise of a deep lying play maker, dare I say it, similar to Pirlo....

In 5 years he might be as good as Xavi. They have similar style and physical attributes. He just needs to keep improving year after year and build up his stamina and work rate.

Suso's own style hinders Suso, he's essentially a deep lying play-maker we can't accommodate until he either bulks up a bit and brushes up on his defensive game, or he works out how to utililse his passing talents in a more compressed area of the pitch. So really, it's pretty irrelevant to Alberto, unless we want to push Suso into a role that's secondary to him.

Like I said in the other thread, why are people moaning about a player they know next to fuck all about?

The transfer window is going far to well so far, people need to find something to moan about.

When I watch Suso in those clips, he almost plays the way that I was expecting Allen to play when he joined.

Quite, he's great isn't he? I just wish we could fit him in somehow, but given how brittle we already are in the centre, it's more or less a no go unless we completely rethink around him, which will cost money. We just need to be patient, loan him out and hope it works in the long run.

Thats the problem, I think the only realistic position he could play with us is attacking midfield, but you do worry that his brilliant long range passing ability would be completely wasted there. Trouble is, even with Didi in his prime sitting next to him, I think he'd always be too lightweight for central midfield, I do think thats where Spain are going to try and shoe horn him in though, which could cause a conflict in development if we're sticking him on the wing or at AM. The best outcome for us I think is for him to go to Norwich, or somewhere like that, and be first choice, preferably at the top of a midfield three, he's such an exciting talent, and those little bits of Xabi you can see in him in those clips has just made me like him more, but he really needs to develop this season.

Good call -but hes clearly not ready for the hurly burly of the prem, perhaps he can fill Coutinhos position when he fucks off in two years time

I thought he was great against Chelsea at the Bridge last season, he changed the game and more or less ran it. So it's doable, it's just whether he can do it week in, week out NOW, we've seen him come in and be a bit too nervous and be reluctant to play a ricky pass, which is understandable, but he hasn't really taken the bull by the horns in the same way Coutinho has and Sterling did (allbeit for a short spell).

I think its down to lack of experience and maybe lack of confidence. Scared to do anything wrong as he wants to do well. I reckon if he was given a run of games his confidence would obviously grow and his talent shine through. Hence why i think its vital he gets a season loan at a club where he'll play every week. Coutinho is like 2 years ahead of him in terms of experience and it shows.

I think in his best position is Gerrard's current position. Next to the dm, behind the attacking midfielder. To provide an outlet for all the players, and to control the tempo of the game. He's not going to get that this year, so my hope is he finds a team that want him specifically for that role and get a loan move to get game time and improve.

I don't think it's as big of an issue as you guys are making it out to be - Suso doesn't have to play in the centre. He could also play out wide - just as the likes of Iniesta and Silva have done.

He does get pushed off the ball a little too easily but he'll learn to cope with that better and of course a bit of time in the gym will also help.

He's got a more specific long range game than those two though, it'd be criminal to neglect it by compressing the space he's got to find to his range.

Perhaps, but we're not going to build the side around him to give him that playmaking experience and it's doubtful as to whether any top flight side he went on loan to would do that either.

You get games where and how you can when you're young. Either way, we play in a fairly fluid system that allows that type of player to express themselves and hopefully we'd be looking for similar'ish teams when we send our players out on loan - at least players like Suso.

I am not so sure anymore.

Suso is getting older and about ready to make an impact and judging by his stature in the U20 clips, stronger and more physical sound too.

Someone mentioned the uncanny resemblance to Alonso, and I must admit, it's uncanny.

From the first few glimpses I saw of him years back for the u18 team it was quite clear to all he was a special talent. Having seen him thrive in this deep lying role however was not where I'd expect to see him blossom.

For me Allen has got a real fight on his hands for a place in the team this Season with Suso so obviously turning into a splendid deep lying playmaker.
