Jesús Joaquín Fernández or ‘Suso’ as he is more commonly known, was presented at UD Almería on Monday. The player, who begins a one-year loan from Liverpool, said he had come to the coastal side to “work my socks off and put Almería as high up the table as possible”.

The 19-year-old forward explained the reasons behind his decision to spend the next 12 months back home in Spain, saying, “Almería tried to sign me a few years ago. Now, quite a few clubs have shown an interest – including clubs in Germany but the only offer that really excited me was Almería’s. This is the ideal place for me, the squad is good and I think we can do well in the Liga BBVA this season but we will have to work hard as it is going to be very demanding. I plan to work my socks off and give everything I’ve got for the club; I know that nobody is going to gift me anything – there are a lot of good players here and competition for a place in the team will be tough - I have to earn it”.

Suso added that he is willing to adapt to wherever coach Francisco Rodríguez Vílchez decides to deploy him, “My natural position is as a deep-lying forward but I will play wherever the coach wants me – on either wing or in midfield,” he said.

Seems like he was tried out in midfield (instead of AM) for this match.

@PhilKitro: Almeria taking Suso on loan from Liverpool might be one of the best bits of business of the summer. Looks classy.

Great to see him starting well. I hope he has a great season.

I wonder what plans Rodgers has for him going forward (if any). The signing of Luis Alberto seems to call into question his place in the squad but I guess it's up to him to change that this year.

I have to add that those clips don't really tell the whole story.

Suso can sometimes look a bit lazy on the pitch. Doesn't make enough runs or track back enough.
Also, he really needs to work harder defensively.

I hope Rodgers have seen these games and tells him that he needs to work harder despite the lack of quality in Almeria's team.
I've seen two games now and it's pretty apparent that most of the players in that team see Almeria as a stepping stone and are therefore very selfish. You could almost see how frustrated Suso was towards the end of the game. Barely ran forward, because he knew he wasn't gonna get the ball.

3. El Almería me está sorprendiendo gratamente. Si pulen la defensa no deben pasar apuros.. Suso, que talento!! #LigaBBVA
Almeria is a pleasant surprise. If the defence should not be polished to rough .. Suso, what a talent!

best case scenario - he comes back an even more confident player and becomes a 1st team player
worst case scenario - he becomes so highly rated in Spain that we make 15+ if we for some reason cannot accommodate him.

The change of air and more game time seems to bringing out the talent he obviously has(we should send Allen out there as well), keep it up Suso.

I don't know if there is clause that would allow it, hypothetically say there is - should we exercise it and have him back?

Nah leave him be. Doesn't need to come back and be part of the shambles Rodgers seems to be creating here.

He would be perfect to replace Coutinho right now, he loves the No. 10 role. He's obviously not at the same level but he plays the same role (almost like Alberto wants to too) which I think would make a big difference to the team right now.

Also Shambles - do pipe down

He got a run of games last season - I think he would have been fine stepping in for a 4 or 5 game stint in Coutinho's absesnse. He'd be surrounded by the experience of Sturridge, Henderson, Gerrard, Lucas etc anyway.
