Sky Sports understands Liverpool youngster Suso is poised to join Almeria on a season-long loan deal.

The teenage Spaniard is still to make his mark at Anfield after arriving from Cadiz in July 2010, making just 20 appearances, although he signed a new long-term deal in October last year.

Now Brendan Rodgers has decided that the midfielder's future would be better served by spending the coming campaign with the newly-promoted La Liga outfit.

With Suso yet to make an impact on the Liverpool first-team, Rodgers will hope his stint back in his homeland will see him feature on a more regular basis.

New Almeria boss Francisco Rodriguez, who was recently named as Javi Gracia's replacement, will be keen for the 19-year-old to help his side remain in the Primera Division following their promotion via the play-offs.

Their new coach is 34 yrs old, and was promoted after their previous coach Javi Garcia failed to agree on a new contract. He had been coaching Almeria's second team (which is effectively an U21 team with a couple of over-aged players) in Spain's third division (finished 5th out of 20 teams). Should have no problem trusting/developing young players.

They signed Tottenham's Iago Falque on loan in January and he went on to make 18 appearances (2 goals 5 assists for them). (http://hereisthecity.com/2013/06/19/spaniards-rave-on-twitter-about-tottenham-man-iago-falque-as-he/)

They play a 4-2-3-1 formation and are the league's 4th best attacking side (behind R.Madrid B, Barca B and Girona - ironically the side they beat in the promotion play-off finals). While it remains to be seen if they would change approach in view of safety, I'd think that by promoting Rodriguez to the managerial role, they're looking at continuing what they've built on for the past 2 seasons (narrowly missed out on play-offs the season before).

While they may not be a fanciful side in terms of name, I think they might yet be a good choice of club for Suso's development. This is the same club that:
- gave Negredo, (Swansea) Chico, (Aston Villa) Luna, (Valencia) Feghouli their debut/ 1st extended run in La Liga at 20/21 yrs old
- signed and developed Pablo Piatti as a 19 yr old before selling him to Valencia for €7.5 million

Suggests Espanyol is in the running too.

I can't edit properly on my phone.

@Binny - when something happens, post a new thread. Most people are looking on phones and want to see what's going on. They don't have time to trawl through old threads.

Anyways, good move.

Glad he's not been left to sit in the stands this season. I hope he can progress there.

I'd rather be joined a prem team on loan (Swansea, Southampton)

Ditto.

But he should see a lot of action at Almeria regardless and that's what he needs, games under his belt to give him the confidence to come back and play for us !

What makes people think he'd get a game at Swansea or Southampton.

Arsenal, Man Utd, Man City, Tottenham, Chelsea, Everton (loaned Deulofeu anyway) all ruled out.

The likes of Sunderland and Southampton looks like they have cash to spend and are going for permanent signings.

Swansea is apparently in talks with Granero while Norwich signed Redmond recently.

Villa have already signed midfielders Tonev and Bacuna. Besides, they probably want to develop their own players.

Cardiff are going for Thomas Ince.

Crystal Palace just signed Thomas and seeing they are linked with the likes of Carlton Cole and Gary O'Neill, it looks like they are going for experience in their fight against relegation.

Fulham - Jol is trying to avoid loans like last season which leave him having to rebuild the squad (http://www.football365.com/fulham/8...fix-loan-deals-have-not-been-ideal-for-Fulham)

West Brom - seems to be going for experience with the Anelka signing and links with Malouda and Benayoun. Would've thought they'd be linked given Steve Clarke's previous connection with us. Seems prudent in this transfer window so far. Besides, they have a DoF structure and a very cautious Chairman in Pearce.

West Ham, Stoke - Allardyce and Hughes. Need I say more? 😛 Anyway, one is looking to making signing to bring the club to a higher level (or so they hope) whereas the other is moving on to more continental approach in the market (as opposed to the previous manager)

Newcastle - Squad is packed with midfielders. Current concern is striking options.

Hull - Perhaps the only feasible choice left but again, fighting against relegation, you'd think Bruce would prefer experience ahead of talent.

If I'm not mistaken, EPL clubs are only allowed 2 domestic loans for the entire season too. Would La Liga be bad compared to the Championship? Just comparing the young talents to have emerged between these 2 leagues gives a simple answer.

This is my worry about him too, he needs to learn to use his right foot badly.
Like a poster said earlier robben has managed fine, also Maradona didn't do too bady. Anyway i'm sure he's practicing but it takes years of practice. Owen used to be one footed for years and so did giggs.
