Is anyone surprised we don't have many 100 page threads?

We fucking fly through transfers now. Coates was the longest one really.
But Fabs, you can't honestly say that this summer window has been more exciting than during that last week in January when we got both Suarez and Carroll?
I know it's not a fair comparison, but I'm looking at the players, especially Suarez who is on a different level than everyone else we've bought since then.
What I'm basically am saying is that I wanted another Suarez this summer.
suarez was greeted with cautious optimism by a good few of people. I was more excited we got carroll. And Even then i was dead excited we got downing. DEAD excited over coates because i knew fuck all about him. Enrique got me thrilled because he's a monster. Adam is a match winner so iwas thrilled for him.

The only way this window could be btter is if we got neymar, and even then i'd greet that with cautious optimism BECAUSE he's unproven anywhere good.

You're just crazy

After ten years of a direct and boring approach I'd say excitement is as important as the result for me, for now.

Which is good considering how long it takes me to jizz, if at all, these days.

Not really here to please you Hardcastle.

But I'm not gonna say that I'm delighted with this window because everyone else here is.

I've expressed my opinion, If you don't like it *shrugs*

Have I said that it's been shite? No.

I'll say it again, it's been good not great.

BTW greatest transfer window (don't think they even had a window back then):

Peter Beardsley
July 1987
John Barnes
June 1987
Ray Houghton
October 1987
Mike Marsh
August 1987

Later on that year....
John Aldridge
January 1987
Nigel Spackman
February 1987

You're totally missing the point Modo. Back then we had a title winning team and Kenny didn't have to ship out so much of deadwood. That he got the job done in a single transfer window and strengthened us to the point of making us contenders again is quite a feat in itself!

i guess we had a very strong team before we bought those players too

I can't say that I'm that pleased. Had that list included Mata I'd be overjoyed.
Pleased no. Content yes.
Jesus, no pleasing some.
We've addressed some problem areas. Got a fantastic left fullback, a decent winger, a promising defender and some decent midfielders.
But I'm still missing the cherry on top. The so called marquee signing.
So no I'm not pleased. I would have loved to have someone like Mata, Hazard, Shakiri, Lavezzi, Aguero etc. That list of players would have looked so much better.
So essentially you are butthurt b/c we didn't sign an exotic "name" player who is good at tricks?

Methinks if Stewart Downing's name was Esteban Abajoando instead you would be chuffed.

Yes you're right. Ashley Young signing for us would have bored me to death.
Basically he has to be foreign or black.

Coates for Kyrgiakos
Henderson for Poulsen
Enrique for Konchesky
Downing for Cole and Jovanovic
Adam for Aquilani
Bellamy AND GKMACCA for N'gog

And not to mention Degen off the books.

It's only the Ming deal that may ruin an almost great summer.

After Meireles leaving, I can't even say that this transfer window has been good any more.
Downgraded to 'OK'.

Sadly I'm with you guys on that .

i'm less thrilled now, but that could be from the shock and numbness i feel ATM.

Sure i'll be happy again after we beat stoke

Some peeps on here are doing my head in tonight, there's some right miserable bastards about given our squad before the window to the one we have now.

FFS, we sorted our left side (how many years?), we sured up our defence, we brought in a better back-up striker and we shifted all of our shite bar Jones (who is probably being overpaid, but isn't the worst 3rd choice keeper in the world), not to mention we've had a good start to the season while simultaneously looking sub-par (ie. once people are match fit and used to playing with each other, we should have moved up a couple of gears from recent performances).

It's time to shut the fuck up, man the fuck up, and get behind Kenny & the lads so that hopefully by the end of the season we are celebrating (CL place, silverware).

I'm more impressed that we managed to offload so many of the deadwood.

I think we overpaid for some of our signings but overall I can't see a potential failure amongst them.

+1

Well said that man.

I'm well happy with this window, & with our prospects this season. Well happy.

Top post.

Seriously, losing Meireles negates the rest of the sterling work done by Dalglish and Commolli? I don't think so.

Well said.

May I just add that our best performance by far yet this season was against Bolton where Ming the Mercenary played 0 minutes. Also, as Rosco pointed out elsewhere, we have less games this season so don't need as big a squad. And I'm sure we'll be buying a CM in January too. We'll be fine.

To be honest, Im still gutted Ming has gone.

He was a quality squad player for us and will be a quality squad player for Chelsea.

Never the less - if we needed to recoup costs from our signings this summer, I'd take Adam and Enrique for Ming, every time.

Shelvey
Spearing
Lucas
Adam
Gerrard
Henderson

Should be more than adequate.

Yep, sums it up, only I'm kinda ambivalent about losing Ming, for the reasons given.

I liked Ming but that he didn't have a stomach for a fight shows a weak mentality and its not something we need. I've always maintained that any player that does not want to fight for the Liverbird can fook off. I have no issues with him leaving. He played well for us and it off. Good riddance.

He'll keep Torres company on the bench anyway. 😉
