We're still being continuously linked with attacking midfielders/wingers like Talisca, Meyer and Mario. 😵 Hmm...

Just found this :

Having been compared to Ivan Rakitic, Aaron Ramsey and Thiago in the past, João Mário is a very versatile midfielder, he can play in central midfield, attacking midfield and even as a right sided midfielder.

Often described as “classic 8” the portuguese is a very composed player being dribbling and passing his best assets but he also shows tremendous maturity in his play, at a such tender age he knows how to control a game. He’s also a very tactical astute player giving his team a new gear.

His main weakness are his pace and finishing ability, by not being the quickest he sometimes doesn’t provide the width needed for Sporting’s attacking play and he regularly gets into very good positions but often requires 2-3 chances to score.

Maybe we still think we need to upgrade in one of those positions. The fact that we already have players who play there doesn't necessarily mean they're all of the required standard.

It might, or it could be that he's taking the place vacated by Allen. On reflection it may be less a question of existing players not being good enough, more one of being willing to upgrade even if they are. I suspect that applied to Allen for example

Guys, that report is so clearly bullshit. We are not replacing Hendo with the 40M Mario, at least not this season. And both Meyer and Talisca links amounted to nothing as well.

(JM is actually a talented player, clearly has some upside. But also hard to define a clear position for a player like this, unless you're willing to build your team around him).

Got to agree Rurik. I just don't see it myself, a defensive minded distributer (e.g. Dahoud) and a LB is where all the money should be going now.

Pione Sisto heavily linked with a £5M move to Celta. Could be a bargain for that kind of money.

Rejected West Ham last Season as he felt their style of play and the physical challenge of the Prem would then come a bit too soon for him.

Apart from scoring a brace against United in the EL in Spring he didn't have the best of Seasons but he has looked very impressive so far in the early stages of this one.

Very direct, explosive and immensely skilled. Not unlike Raheem in terms of ability but where Sterling is probably even faster and obviously more tested at the big stage Sisto is perhaps more intelligent on the ball and might end up being more of a goal threat overall. Got a great shot on him and an amazing ability to ghost past defenders.

Humble, clever lad too. Will be interesting to follow his progress in La Liga.

Higuain has signed for Juve. Done deal. Paid the £75mill release clause. Surely spending the Pogba money there, unless they sell 1 other decent player then between that and Morata they'd probably have had enough.

Morata, Hig and Dybala (sp?). Nice strikeforce unless one is leaving?

Edit : Morata gone back to Madrid already yeah?

Strange signing Higuain for so much money. I know he's good but how many years are they going to get out of him?

In Italy, quite a few I imagine. He is a natural finisher; he won't lose that ability any time soon. It could have been a problem for him settling in a new, faster and more physical league, but as long as he stays in Italy I expect he will score in bunches.

Juve assembled quite a team there, didn't they? They have to be one of the favorites for the CL next season.

Is Higuain the right striker for them for an assault on the CL? Again I have not watched him much. My opinion of him is biased because of his performance in the semi finals of Europa league three years ago, world cup final, and the two Copa American finals. In these four games, his misses (fairly pedestrian chances) cost his team. I have doubts whether he can deliver for example in the CL semi final or final.

From the Serie A point of view this signing pretty much guarantees Juve the league. But I think Juve would have won the league with a far lesser striker. Juve are spending 75 million on him to get that extra quality to overcome Barca, Bayern, Madrid but I am not sure if Higuain will provide that at the business end of the season.

I'm pretty sure their focus is on CL this year. They'll win the league easily again with that team they've assembled

Todays silly rumour of the day.

Jese Rodriguez has asked to leave, we are interested according to multiple non reliable sources. I'd take him here, but we are fairly stocked up top.
