Falcao went into the crowd after the last game, and said his goodbye in a speech etc ... Monaco are going to keep PSG busy in France, that's for sure.

Bye bye Gomez. A year before the world cup, he can't afford to stay in Bayern.
He'll probably go to Spain, I mean considering that he's half Spanish.

I don't think so.

He's built for the PL. And with the World Cup being next year he'll be looking for a team where he's likely to play at a decent level and not being 2nd or 3rd choice.

And that's us.

Welcome, Mario!

The latest names linked with Napoli.

A target in defence is Spurs man Jan Vertonghen, the 26-year-old who has impressed under Andre Villas-Boas this season.

Napoli hope to include Federico Fernandez as part of the deal to lower the €11m price-tag, as he is valued at €6m following a loan spell at Getafe.

TalkSport suggest that Benitez is looking at his old club Liverpool to snap up Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva.

It was Benitez who first brought Lucas to Anfield from Gremio in 2007, but Napoli face an obstacle because he only recently signed a contract extension.

There are also continuing reports in Italy that Fernando Torres could arrive from Chelsea if Edinson Cavani is sold.

Valdes following Falcao to Monaco?

AS Monaco continues to explode onto the market. Having confirmed the arrival of Colombian James Rodríguez and Joao Moutinho just a few days ago, the Principality's club is now about to close further deals to secure the services of Radamel Falcao and Víctor Valdés.

According to several sources close to the Monaco-based club, speaking to news agency Agence France Press, the Atlético forward and Barça goalkeeper travelled to Monaco on Monday to hammer out the final details of their contracts.

The French club's second big signing would once again be around the €70 million mark. Falcao would depart Atlético de Madrid, depositing his €60 million buy-out clause fee in the 'Rojiblanco' coffers in the process, while Valdés, whose contract with Barcelona ends next season, will go for a figure close to €10 million. According to AFP, both arrived in the Principality on Monday and will undergo medical examinations on Tuesday.

These two new signings add to the Porto players, Joao Moutinho and James Rodríguez, already on-board, for whom Monaco shelled out €70 million. Russian millionaire, Dmitry Rybolovlev, will thereby have invested €140 million of the €200 million budget he pledged on taking over the club.

With the entire summer still ahead, Monaco looks set to be a force to be reckoned with on its return to Ligue 1. Currently, the Principality's team has positioned itself as the biggest mover and shaker on the market.

Conflicting guidance there. Start a thread, but we are not having the thread you suggested.

The not-having an LFC rumors thread does not seem to be working since we keep posting LFC rumors in the non-thread and there is no thread about our most interested CB rumor - Papadopolis, but rather than moaning I will start one. I suspect the admin's will lock it. though.

It will work so long as posters don't act retarded:

  • Post non LFC rumours in a NON LFC thread.
  • Start a new thread for LFC rumours, or post in the correct thread if it already exists.
If you find that a challenge, let me introduce you to carbon monoxide. The world won't miss you.

Real Madrid’s long standing pursuit of Tottenham’s Gareth Bale appears to be heating up dramatically.
Leading Spanish dailies Marca and AS both splash their front covers on Wednesday with images of the Tottenham superstar. Marca renamed Real’s chase for Bale as “Mission Zidane”, whilst AS headline their tabloid with “Bale is the golden bullet”.
The increased focus on Bale comes on the back of a brand new interview Spanish TV prised from the Welshman’s agent Jonathan Barnett on the show ‘Futboleros’.
A rather pompous sounding Barnett made some incredible statements on the show, specifically claiming that Gareth Bale is better than new Barcelona signing Neymar, and that any transfer fee for the Spurs player would be bigger than the money dished out on the Brazilian.
Barnett said the following:
If someone like Mr Perez was interested in Bale it would be a great honour. And we would listen. We’re not speaking to anybody… Bale is better than Neymar. He’s proved himself better than Neymar. He’s proved himself in the best legue in the world.
I would hope that any club who wants him, wants him not because they lost Neymar. I would think he’d have to be their first choice… Listen, it’s crazy, but whatever Neymar cost, Gareth Bale is worth more.
Watch Jonathan Barnett’s incredible interview below, along with the front pages of Marca and AS on Wednesday.

United open talks to sign Fabregas

Manchester United have made initial contact with Barcelona over a potential purchase of Cesc Fabregas, ESPN understands, as David Moyes has finally set out his main plans for a first transfer window as manager at Old Trafford.

AssociatedFabregas was reportedly frustrated with his role at Barcelona

Moyes has resolved to greatly reinforce the midfield, and United will look to make at the very least two signings in the area - possibly more.
At the top of the list of targets at present are Marouane Fellaini, Thiago Alcantara and, above all, Fabregas. Moyes also feels the need to make at least one "statement" signing, especially with the expected departure of Wayne Rooney.

United sources have confirmed to ESPN that there have already been discussions between the club and Barcelona over both Fabregas and Thiago. While the Catalans are willing to sanction the sale of Thiago to Old Trafford for around £18m, leaving the final decision over a move to the player, there is more uncertainty over Fabregas.
Barca are still deciding what to do next with a signing that has been a relative failure given the former Arsenal midfielder’s undeniable quality.
Fabregas is understood to be wavering over whether he wants a move. Although there is a willingness on both parts to eventually make his stay at Camp Nou work as a consequence of the obvious emotional connection between the 26-year-old and the Catalans, United are hoping to act on that doubt. It is felt at Old Trafford that a figure of over £25m may tempt Barcelona.
Moyes would also be able to offer Fabregas the influential midfield role that he has failed to earn at Camp Nou, as Xavi continues to have such a strong impact.
Any deal may be complicated by Arsenal's reported first refusal on Fabregas, although United sources are confident that will not be an issue.
At this juncture, Thiago is seen as a much more likely signing for United, although he is said to still be unsure over both wages and whether a move to the Premier League is currently the best decision for his career.
Moyes’ hand has been further forced by the close-season's exits, as well as the existing gaps in the United midfield from the 2012-13 season. Not only has Paul Scholes retired, it is anticipated that Anderson will leave, most likely to a Portuguese club.
United are also open to selling Nani, with Arsenal understood to be contemplating a £15m bid.
Moyes as yet has no firm plans over what to do up front, or whether to reinforce at all. Although United were encouraged as recently as last week that a move for long-term target Robert Lewandowski may be possible, the events of the last few days have left them feeling much less confident.
Part of the problem has been that the Polish forward’s representatives have been looking to keep their options open, particularly with Borussia Dortmund so unwilling to sell to Lewandowski’s first choice of Bayern Munich.

Atletico Madrid looking for Falcao's replacement form the Premier League, according to AS.com

Now that Radamel Falcao has been sold to Monaco, Atlético Madrid need to find a suitable replacement for the Colombian as soon as possible.

Chief executive Miguel Ángel Gil Marín flew to London on Wednesday morning in search of a new striker, and four players are on his list: Luis Suárez (Liverpool), Christian Benteke (Aston Villa), Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández (Manchester United) and Edin Dzeko (Manchester City).

The Uruguayan is the club’s preferred choice to fill the boots of 'El Tigre', but will also be the hardest player to tempt to the Vicente Calderón, because of his high price and the fact that Los Rojiblancos are not the only club vying for his signature, with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich also showing a keen interest. Atleti are well aware that their hopes of buying Suarez depend on other clubs looking elsewhere.

If Suárez is untouchable, Hernández (24) and Benteke (22) are next on the priority list. Both players fit the criteria of being young enough to stay at Atlético for a good few years, see their value and allowing them to be sold on for a profit in the future, like Falcao and Kun Agüero. The Mexican wants to leave United if he is going to remain a substitute, but the possible departure of Wayne Rooney means he may keep waiting before deciding what to do. The Belgian raises a few doubts because of his sparse experience at the elite level, but his potential is enormous and Arsenal and Tottenham, two clubs with huge economic powers, also want to sign him.

Finally, Dzeko (27) is the last option from the Premier League. Although his price has dropped due to an inconsistent spell at City, his talent cannot be questioned, and Borussia Dortmund and Napoli have plans to bid for him if their star strikers, Robert Lewandowsky and Edinson Cavani respectively, leave in the summer. The puzzle is complicated and will extend across half of Europe as Atlético seek to beat off competition from their rivals.

Paper talk that Swansea have fielded a £5M bid for winger Diego Capel.

Barcelona and Victor Valdes have both confirmed that the goalkeeper will appear before the media on Friday morning.

The 31-year-old will make his first official appearance in front of the Press since Barca confirmed several months ago that his intention is to not renew his contract beyond its June 2014 expiry.

Speculation in recent weeks has been that Valdes is now pushing for a transfer this summer, rather than waiting a year to leave the Camp Nou on a free in 2014.

Statements released from both the club and the player on Thursday morning have confirmed that he will now speak to the media on Friday morning, 10am UK time.

“Tomorrow at 11am [local time] I have decided that I will appear before the media in the Press room at the Camp Nou. Greetings to all,” Valdes posted on his official Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Monaco are rumoured to be interested in the player, although their sporting director intimated this week that reports of a move in the pipeline are not as advanced as believed.

Sky Sources repoting sunderland have signed modibo diakite from lazio

Bayern Munich midfielder Anatoliy Tymoschuk has revealed that German coach Jupp Heynckes is almost certain to be named as José Mourinho’s successor. Speaking to Russian sports channel, Rossiya 2, Tymoschuk said, “There is a 99% chance that Heynckes will coach Real Madrid next season”.

As AS recently reported, Real Madrid have offered the 68-year-old coach a two-year contract to entice him back to the Bernabéu should Carlo Ancelotti fail to rescind his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. Heynckes spent one season as Madrid coach in 1997-98, guiding the team to victory in the Champions League to win the club’s seventh European crown.

José Mourinho wants to interfere with Real Madrid’s plans to sign Edinson Cavani.

According to 'Sky Italia', the Portuguese coach’s new club, Chelsea, are ready to push the boat out to bring then Napoli striker to West London and will offer the Serie A outfit 30 million euros plus striker Fernando Tores.

The English press has reported that Mourinho has made it clear to the Chelsea board that he does not have any plans for Torrres next season, despite the fact that ‘El Niño’ scored 22 times for the Blues in 2012-13 and was crucial to them winning the Europa League, including scoring in the final against Benfica.

Mourinho wants a natural striker that will guarantee his side goals. His main target was Radamel Falcao, but the Colombian will join Monaco instead and Cavani is seen as the next best thing after ‘El Tigre’.

However, new Napoli boss Rafael Benítez reportedly told the club that he would only take the job if he was assured that the Uruguayan forward would stay. And according to the Italian press, Napoli are preparing to increase the player's wages to 7 million euros per year in a new contract that they hope will fend off potential suitors.
