This forum oscillates from one over-reaction to the next, like clockwork.

Before Studge was back, everyone was crying out for him to get fit.

And when he's back, many question and moan about his form.

Yet conveniently ignoring the fact that he's clearly match rusty. He's been out for months - of course he'll be off the pace and not be in top form.

We quote it all the time - 'form is temporary, class is permanent' but sadly, we choose not to apply it in our arguments. Because it's more fun to debate.

I can't wait for the next thread 'worshiping' Studge when he starts banging them in.

You're all overreacting.

He's come back & scored straight away, flying out if the traps.

After a couple of longer spells than 20 minutes though, he looks well, well short of fitness.

He's getting a bit better each game but he hasn't got the pace or the quick feet back yet, & it's frustrating the fuck out of him.

Yes, he's being selfish, but he's a striker, & they're always selfish when they're trying to pump up their confidence by scoring a goal.

Suarez, Torres, Owen, Fowler. All of those strikers went through patches looking like this, Torres especially, cos it always seemed to spiral into anger at himself when his body couldn't write the cheques his mind was cashing.

I agree, it's fitness.

I do think he's better in a front 2, though, and getting him that perfect partner would be my priority this summer.

Funnily enough a contact in Uruguay told me just a couple of days ago that there's quite a widespread view among football fans there that Suarez leaving us is turning out to have been a mistake for him. I don't suppose that'll have any practical consequences, but I thought it was interesting.

Do they have tougher sentences for biting in Spain?

I hate it when players leave here and do well.

It's only happened a few times, but it's never good. Keegan. Alonso, McManaman. You could argue Owen. Torres won stuff but he was shite. But on the whole players peak here, and that's how it should be. I'd love Suarez to make a total bollocks of that move to Barca.

If he was to fail miserably, I'd be worried a Premiership team would sign him (not us) and he'd find some form again.

If that is the view in Uruguay then it's probably because they'd rather see Suarez as the main man whereas at Barca is he is very much in the shadow of Messi.

I remember saying when Henry joined Barca that it was remarkable to see the player that was the epitome of class in England look almost clumsy when put alongside Messi (though in fairness to Henry he was a bit past his best by the time he joined them).

Every bad touch, misplaced pass and opportunity spurned seems worse because of the aura of Messi.

Suarez had has definitely had to accept more of a supporting role at Barcelona, but if Messi ever does have a bad spell of form, the coach does have the option of moving Suarez into the middle and have Messi supporting. Maybe there would be outrage, I don't know. I do know Suarez has the ability so subdue any outrage very quickly.

Managing Real Madrid and Barcelona must be an absolute hoot.

It didn't need Messi to have a bad spell... Suarez has already been playing through the middle.

And Messi seems to love him for his role down the middle. Suarez has been a massive success there for the team. Creates chances after chances for his teammates.
