The one that is taking the piss out of is actually funny. Well, the dickheads commenting who think it's real are anyway.

Sturridge's fitness issues are, apparently, due to the fact that he spends most friday afternoons eating peanut butter & banana sandwiches with Elvis, who he met when they were both victims to an alien abduction on 30th Feb 2013. The aliens strangely resembled 6ft lizards with Boston accents.

Your theory has been twattered

[article]To give this context, we need to rewind to August 2014 and remember the buzz around him and Liverpool. The numbers Sturridge has accumulated since then, when written down, are certainly eye-opening.

Liverpool, who had just come off the back of a thrilling season when they plundered 101 Premier League goals, began the 2014-15 campaign with a 2-1 win over Southampton, a victory that was secured by a late Sturridge goal and saw Brendan Rodgers hurtle on to the pitch in celebration.

Since then, they have played 90 more games in all competitions, which equates to 8,190 minutes. Sturridge, such has been his fitness problems, has featured in just 23 of those, completing just eight full games. His time on the pitch adds up to 1,566 minutes and he has scored nine times.

Yet, in the middle of all that, he was given a bumper new contract. Liverpool have been criticised for giving Simon Mignolet a new deal that runs until 2021, given the erratic nature of his performances, but there are no question over the Belgian’s availability.

Sturridge had more than three-and-a-half years on his previous deal when Liverpool offered him new terms and he was out of the side with a torn thigh muscle. It made no sense to commit to such a heavy financial investment then, particularly when there were other contractual issues that needed addressing first, and hindsight makes it look even less astute.
