Robbie Keane works for Liverpool? THAT Robbie Keane? Is there another Robbie Keane who I've never heard about? I'm totally confused now.

It's an inside joke. Has to do with Keane not being Rafa's signing. Hence why it never worked out for him.

Thank you, Modo. I knew with Gene it was going to be a joke of some kind, but I was still totally clueless about it. Good one, actually.

hmmm, he seems to be good defensively, we can certainly use him against certain teams when we need to contain certain threat from the opposite side

Ryan says he's rubbish so I think it is time you all moved on.

And you said Gerrard would play wide right in the front 3, which I'm still waiting to see happen. Sorry, you were convinced it was going to happen actually.

About as convinced as you were that Charlie Adam was the shit too.

Just cos this lad's tearing it up for 2 weeks at Stoke means fuck all. He's not good enough.

Don't worry, I'll be right again.

Ryan does think he's good enough. He's just trying to start an argument because no one is frequenting the ashes thread.

No, I said I'd like to see SG play wide right. I never said I was convinced it would happen, and how typical of you to try and deflect onto another unrelated discussion. I could harp back to how you castigated a team Dreamy said would play in the Rafa era, telling him only someone who knew fuck all about football would pick a team so lacking in balance– only for Rafa to pick Dreamy's XI and for that team to romp home. There are lots of other examples – but what's the point? You're a self-adoring twat with a massively inflated opinion of yourself and just about everyone on the site recognises that fact. Back to the issue at hand.

My problem with your pronoucement on Assaidi is that you've based it on seeing next to fuck all of him and pretended to have some special insight. Which is pretty much your modus operandi. The fact he's scored crucial goals against some of the best teams in the league suggests he has something going on. Is he good enough? I haven't seen enough to know. And neither have you.

That's twice you've had a go in this thread Mark, completely without provocation.

Not very moderator-ish of you now is it?

Well it's not really unprovoked is it? When you're popping up with every post being sanctimonious and obnoxious. It sounds ridiculous. "Oh that's so 1970's. Modern football is like that, actually".

Do you listen to yourself these days? You sound like a self-righteous arsehole. Sort it out eh.

I would like to take Assaidi (who will be already having experience playing in EPL) better than spending another 7m on another Aspas.

Just provided an assist for Kenwyne Jones to score Stoke's opener vs Leicester City

[article]Assaidi bursts into a mazy run on the left hand touchline, but runs out of space as the ball goes out for a throw

Assaidi gets the better of De Laet down the left, ball goes for a corner. Resulting in Whelan to fire over the bar from edge of the area

Potters fans cry for handball as Assaidi's cross hits Wasilewski, it looked slightly soft up here.

Brilliant ball in from the left by Assaidi finds Jones on the far post who out jumped his man and guided it home, Stoke 1-0 Leicester

Assaidi twists and turns on the edge of the area, but delays his pass for Whelan, who strays offside in the Foxes area.

Assaidi cross deflected out for a Stoke corner

Cracking ball from Adam to switch play, as Assaidi leaves his man for dead- but Jones can't direct his header on target.[/article]

I thought he did alright when he first came and was surprised the manager bombed him off so quickly. He might not be good enough but he's no worse than shite like Borini and Aspas who cost a hell of a lot more.

It's a win win situation, if he has a good season and goes on to score 10 goals then we can either take him back as a useful source of premier league goals or sell him on for a reasonable fee... Top stuff...

3 premier league goals in 6 games 2 of which cost our direct competitors points.... He is already well up on Downings entire red career.

He'll come good, just you wait. Downing that is. He's "improving".

I've seen enough of him to know he's not good enough. Like the last time you demanded more evidence because SG wide-right of a front 3 wouldn't work, I didn't need any, I just knew it was never going to happen. Just like this lad Assaidi will never be a top class footballer. He's not bad, but he's not good enough. Why do I need to have watched him for an eternity to be able to declare that?

And if I sound like a sanctimonious arsehole, it's probably because it's hard to trawl through you (plural you by the way, just in case you think I'm singling you out)) and others shite so frequently and not feel need the need to reply. I don't know how else to put this; but your knowledge of what's actually happening on a football pitch is pretty limited. Again, plural you. I often think I'd love to stand in a pub next to some of you when a match is on just to hear what you actually think is going on. It'd be fucking scary. I'm not going to apologise or feel bad about that either.

Oh, and the 'Dreamy X1' thing wasn't Dreamy, it was KHL (I think). He'd picked a ludicrous side, that Rafa went on to actually pretty closely select too. For one game, at home to a Portsmouth side who were bottom of the league, and were cruising towards the worst points total in premier league history. That side was never ever picked again, nor anything close to it. If you want to claim that as a victory, then go ahead.

Do you play footy Ryan?

"Your knowledge is limited", do me a favour. That bold part just highlights how much of a self righteous arse you've become, like your knowledge is so infallible. Soz for the fact that you only feel inclined to reply to people these days to make a point of telling them how inferior their knowledge is, and that you have to trawl through shite, like people second guessing on a forum what team we might play.

How insightful and deep your own footballing knowledge has become eh, because you know, you play the game at a higher level than most.

Have you seen some of the dickheads in football? Oh.

I'm not claiming anything as a victory: I'm trying to say there are no victories because this is a forum where we all express fallible opinions – including the sainted, blessed, immaculately fucking conceived Ryan. I'm claiming you talk as much shite as anyone else, but justify a self-deluding posture of footballing nous because you've played in some of the worst leagues in the world. And yes, I think you need to see more than a handful of sub appearances to get a true measure of a player. Even the amazing you needs that.

I've never professed to be a good footballer on here, ever. Go back through any post of mine or anyone else's pertaining to that, and I've always claimed I was/am limited. It's true.

I've been lucky enough to play with and against top footballers, and have played under 2 or 3 absolutely superb managers. One of whom will be managing a side at the World Cup in 6 months time. Playing with players that good, and standing on training pitches for 15 odd years has given me more knowledge of the game than most. I can tell you what's happening on a football pitch, and why it's happening. That's also true.

What is also true is that I struggle to comprehend why some of you type some of the nonsense you do. Like Mark's idea that we should play 'a flat back 4 with four out and out defenders who don't go forward' (paraphrasing cos I can't be arsed going back to find the actual quote). I read that and shake my head. 1 - Not one side in any division in England plays football like that. Not even in the conference do they set up teams to do that anymore. It's mindblowing to even suggest it. And 2 - Have you watched how Rodgers has us play? Do you see how he sets us up on a pitch? If you do, then you wouldn't type shit like that. I make no apology for saying it's 1970s shite. If you want to argue that, then you're only making a fool of yourself.

And your assertion that Gerrard could play wide right in a 4-3-3. That tells me you don't know much about a 4-3-3.If you did, and if you knew anything about Rodgers' Swansea you wouldn't have suggested that. At the time I just told you it wouldn't happen. I didn't make it a big deal, I just said it wouldn't happen.

You're the one who's taken all of this to a personal level over the last few pages. I hadn't even participated in this thread, and you and Mark decided to bring me into it. So don't get all high and mighty now that I've replied to your goading.
