Liverpool are facing a possible midfield crisis ahead of their weekend trip to Tottenham Hotspur with Jordan Henderson the latest sweating on the result of a scan.
Henderson suffered a reaction to the horrific challenge by West Ham midfielder Kevin Nolan last weekend.
Nolan was sent off for a studded tackle on Henderson’s ankle, and although the England international played the final seven minutes of his side’s 4-1 victory, the injury has flared up in the last 48 hours.
Henderson was wearing a foot brace at the club’s training ground on Monday, awaiting the results to establish the seriousness of the knock.
Liverpool are hopeful it is not too serious and have not yet ruled the midfielder out of this weekend’s trip to Spurs, but he faces an anxious few days.

Nolan will serve a three-match ban for the challenge his manager, Sam Allardyce, described as “irresponsible”.
With Steven Gerrard also waiting for further assessment on a hamstring strain, Brendan Rodgers’ options could be severely limited for a crucial fixture at White Hart Lane between two sides with genuine top-four aspirations.
Rodgers is already without Daniel Sturridge and first choice left-back Jose Enrique.
His central midfield back-up is limited, with youngster Luis Alberto on standby to partner Lucas and Joe Allen.
Rodgers could revert to three centre-halves given Daniel Agger is likely to have recovered from illness, but the timing of these injuries could not be worse. After Spurs, Liverpool host Cardiff City and then travel to Manchester City and Chelsea.

With Henderson and Gerrard out I have a feeling that Brendan will bring out the 5-3-2.

--------------------Mignolet

------Skrtel-------Sakho-------Agger

Johnson------------------------------------Kelly/Flanno

--------------Lucas----------Allen
-------------------Coutinho

-----------Aspas/Alberto-------Suarez

You meant Sakho, right?

If Hendo is out, yeah, I can see a temporary return to a system with 3 CBs. The front 2 will probably be Suarez and Sterling; the young Raheem played as a striker before and we need someone with pace in a counter-attacking system.

Hendo will be alright. Vertonghen is out for 4 weeks

Is Rose back? What about Kaboul/Chiriches? Thats a big miss for them, I'm looking at there line up against Sunderland and trying to figure out who partnered Dawson, was it one of Capoue or Dembele?

3-5-2 will be mullered by their widemen.

i suggest

toure -------sakho-----skrtel------magic
---------------allen------lucas-------
-------------------coutinho------------
sterling-----suarez-----------moses

I'm expecting a solid performance from Allen, Lucas and Henderson. They all need to step up in this game. Show their worth to the team.

I can't believe we haven't had a "play Agger in central midfield" suggestion yet.

Has KHL been sedated

If we instruct Sakho to spend the entire game staring directly at Soldado, we should be able to completely negate his play, as he'll probably run off the pitch scared, maybe asking AVB for a cuddle and bed time story in the process. Defoe, not so much, he's a tenacious fucker who would probably relish the tension, he'll require some more robust tactics.

If Henderson's fit I'd play him in that left wing forward role to counter Walker's attacking from right back. Fuck Moses.

But Soldado has done nothing significant at Spurs to warrant that special attention apart from penalties.

Agree hendo is better defensively, that's why I have magic at left back, more importantly I think they need to worry about us and they have a soft underbelly, which Moses could exploit.

Why do you think Coutinho has so much space? Sure, he does a lot of work on the ball himself, but if he doesn't have Suarez pulling players every where just ahead of him & Henderson making runs around & behind him he'd be crowded out.

You need players who do the running in midfield. Sure it'd be nice if he didn't lose his head when he got within 12 yards of the box but he's a great asset to the way our team plays, whether you like him or not.

Don't be silly. Hard workers like Carragher, Kuyt, Riise (of course!) and Henderson don't have a place in his tippy-tappy, keepyuppy fantasy land.
