Coutinho and Suarez are ace at set pieces. Let's see how it plays out. This is a very improtant game for self-belief without Gerrard. A win is vital and necessary.

Not the biggest alberto fan but technically very good and seems good at finding space. I'd play him against spurs and have sterling on the bench. Ball retention is key and sterling's passing is shocking, nearly as bad as moses.

Gerrard injured😗 blessing in disguise really
... time for BR to make play some drills in practice and let Hendo and Allen handle the tempo of the game. Lucas behind them, at least we wont get overrun in the midfield area. Only thing we will miss is those perfect set piece balls from Gerrard but we wont need them at all. We will be just fine. IF sterling irritates, replace him with Alberto. Sterling will help us surely, just that either suarez or Cou has to find him

This is going to be an excellent test of how ready our team is to move on when that inevitable day arrives when Gerrard leaves. We'll obviously lose his presence, dead ball deliveries etc over the coming games, but just as we played really well without him in the past - I am hopeful his absence will bring out the best in Lucas, Allen & Henderson. It would be phenomenal if we can get 8-10 points, and then bring in a healthy Gerrard for the last few months of the season. I like this optimistic shit ...

Blessing in disguise? We're now missing the third top scorer in the league and our most productive midfielder. Should we hope for injuries to Coutinho and Suarez too? Just so we can see how we cope without them?

We've got results in the past without him - he's nowhere near as imposing on games as he used to be, I am hopeful this team will grow without him as other players rise to the challenge.

No one was hoping he'd get injured - a rare idiotic comment for you - but we can't go crying now that he's injured, and pretend we can't do well without him... Let's see what we're really made of.

I don't expect we'll go out and give up, but having both him and Sturridge out at the same time is a disaster, especially given our run of games in the next few weeks.

I'm just hoping they'll both come back fresh and energetic, and the rest(namely, Suarez and Coutinho) can somehow manage to keep things ticking over.

Ay, we've done ok without Sturridge and hopefully with Coutinho being healthy and Allen finding his form, we'll be able to churn out positive results in the games Stevie is missing. I think it's a great test for this team - and hopefully, we'll all be even more excited when they're done.

That's the upshot, Coutinho, Suarez, Johnson and now Gerrard and Sturridge have had time out, so hopefully we won't burn out so quick. Add on top of that Allen and Sterling should be fresh for not playing many games so far, and Lucas seems to be getting some rest, plus our rotating centre backs and Henderson inability to fatigue, hopefully fitness should run through the season nicely.

GK: Mignolet
RB: Johnson
CB: Skrtel
CD: Sakho
LB: Flannagan

CDM: Lucas
CDM: Allen

RW: Sterling
CAM: Henderson
LW: Coutinho

ST: Suarez

I wouldn't go as a to say it's a blessing in disguise as he raises he game against the big sides like no one else can.

However, he does need a rest, & I would add that should we learn to cope without him & prove we can get results consistently, it may then be a blessing in disguise, as Rodgers may well rest him regularly & not play him for 90 minutes so often when the match is won.

Mr Agenda is right.

I would like to see:

----------------Mignolet----------------
Johnson---Skrtel---Sakho---Flanno
------------------Lucas------------------
------------Hendo----Allen-------------
Sterling-----------------------Coutinho
-------------------Suarez-----------------

That's a bit snide and a lot untrue.

Precisely....its a very cheap shot against a guy who has given us many memorable moments from set piece situations over the years.

If you visit the discussion board of any of the big clubs...almost every one is saying
1) We are shit at scoring from set plays
2) We are shit at defending set plays

It seems like the fashionably right thing to do. Sort of like a back handed compliment.....We are great at football mind, but we don't really do dead ball situations quite well....

He did nothing.

Why do you think Coutinho has so much space? Sure, he does a lot of work on the ball himself, but if he doesn't have Suarez pulling players every where just ahead of him & Henderson making runs around & behind him he'd be crowded out.

You need players who do the running in midfield. Sure it'd be nice if he didn't lose his head when he got within 12 yards of the box but he's a great asset to the way our team plays, whether you like him or not.

Henderson made some good passes from the mid/right of the field to give space to attackers on the left.
He didn't do everything right, but neither did everyone else.

And I wouldn't put Lucas in the DM role ahead of Allen. Lucas is shit at it and is in a better position to give away dangerous free kicks.
