So who do we want/expect/hope?

Obviously, we'd all like Klopp and Guardiola but that's pretty far-fetched. Capello's top of the realistic list for me along with Lambert. If you'd rather have Martinez, Rodgers or Villas-Boas instead of Capello i'll hand you a big white coat.

The only one mentioned so far still left in the running I'd be happy with is Lambert, seeing as Rafa is, as expected, being irrationally discounted. Capello would probably do ok but I can't rouse myself to any enthusiasm - the idea of watching one of his teams every week just saps my strength.

I have to say, though, that I'm fairly astonished just how ineptly FSG seem to have handled the process so far, and I was already pretty sceptical about them. Having candidates openly rejecting us left, right, and centre like this looks like a total shambles.

it's astounding. what if avb and martinez also turn us down? what the fuck then?

I seriously think some cunts are only happy when theyre moaning.
What about Martinez? 'Unproven'
What about Villas Boas? 'Only won in portugal!'
What about Capello? 'Needs a top team to perform!'
What about Mourinho? 'Needs money to perform!'
Like honestly we are going to find a manager out there with a history of winning league titles IN ENGLAND with a ramshackle squad, containing Steven Gerrard and Andy Carroll, who is cheap, ready to start immediately, will play attractive attacking football, Great in the press and signs only sexy players for fucking peanuts.
Jesus fuck.
Only for Liverpool fans could Fabio Capello be questioned.

It's gonna be Martinez isn't it? He may turn out to be ok, but let's face it here - he's a third-tier manager and fits the quota for what we can likely get these days.

Tier 1 managers; the likes of Mourinho, Guardiola, Wenger etc were always way out of our league.

But the last week has clearly shown that we likely can't even attract the next tier of manager; De Boer, Klopp, Rodgers, probably Capello have all turned us down.

Don't be under the impression that "We're still Liverpool, one of the biggest clubs in the blah blah blah..." cos the Manager of Swansea, and the manager of Borussia fucking Dortmund aren't even interested in talking with us folks.

Our level is 3rd tier. Martinez - or someone of his ilk - may ultimately get us back up near the top where we can attract someone with a bit more oomph, but until then we're stuck negotiating with Wigan over the release of the manager that helped them avoid relegation.

Yes I can see it now; "Please come to us to be interviewed, but if you don't want to then don't tell anyone". Total shambles.

I wouldn't write off Rodgers just yet Ryan

Would anyone be pleased with Rodgers?

Somehow I put him in the same category as Martinez etc.

Maybe because we only wanted them for talks/interview as opposed to offering them the job or at least making out that we're really interested in them.

With that in mind, can't blame Klopp and Rodgers when they've got solid and exciting jobs at Borussia and Swansea respectively.

I think the truth of the situation is that none of us has a fucking clue which of the candidates would be the man to end 20 years of hurt and lead the club to glory. It's a fruit machine. You can only pull the handle and wait to see what happens. I tend to favour Martinez because with very limited resources he has kept Wigan in the Premier League by playing football and not parking the bus. He's obviously a smart and highly-motivated guy. But hey, what do I know?

The only question on which I am certain is that Rafa is most definitely NOT the man because he has already been road-tested and failed badly.

If Rafa "failed badly", what did Hodgson and Dalglish do then?

the sad truth is that probably none of the candidates will be able to end that hurt .

Tbf Roy and Kenny never had much of a chance after the state Benitez left the club in. Rafa's down there with Paisley as one of the worst European Cup-winning managers we've ever had.

He only won the European Cup in his first season with a squad consisting of Josemi, Traore and Biscan. Then won the FA Cup, got us to another Champions League final, came second in the League with our highest ever points tally in the Prem.
Not to mention buying players like Reina, Alonso, Garcia, Agger, Skrtel, Mascherano, Torres and Lucas for well below their market value.
Oh and he didn't do a bad job in getting the best out of Gerrard and Carragher either.
That's all with cuntish owners.

Meh. Houllier won 5 trophies and signed the likes of Hamman, Hyppia, Babbel, Mcallister, Henchoz, Riise, Finnan etc and finished 2nd in the league.
