I was also thinking on something like this and that team actually looks quite good. If only we could replace 'One Of The Cunt Twins' with 'Gerrard'.

I doubt Budge will be this adventurous though.

why have you given jova the nod ahead of maxi? I agree with aurelio ahead of konchesky though.

Obviously Jova instead of Maxi is a tricky one.
I don't love either, although I think Jova's been rubbished rather too quickly. Certainly his pace will be useful away from home.

And as for Joe Cole. Well, the idea of him has been rather better than the reality, but fuck it, he's here, we may as well try and use him.

As much as I want to keep up our winning momentum, I see no fucking chance we can even nick a point at White Heart Lane...look at how they beat Arse last week...

I'd be surprised if maxi was dropped for either Cole or jova given maxi played well against the hammers and neither Cole nor jova have played for a while.

I'd also be suprised to see konchesky replaced as well.

I probably wouldn't be surprised to see merieles moved out to the right & Poulsen & Lucas play in the centre.

Not saying I like it but it is roy and we are away from home.

Luckily?

Yup a few momentary lapses from the gunners and some luck were defo key to the Spurs win, never the less though they never gave in and they were rewarded for their efforts. An attitude Woys side have displayed a grand total of . . . 0 times?

It doesn't look too promising admittedly but Spurs haven't been great in the league this season either.

They lost to Wigan, lost to West Ham, lost to Bolton, and drew with Everton and Sunderland at home.

I know that we have had similarly shit results and our away record is pathetic but we are up against a very inconsistent side.

My pick:

.............................................Reina.........................................................

Johnson..........................Carra...........Greek.................................Aurelio

.........................Raul......................................Poulsen.............................

Kuyt........................................Cole..................................................Maxi

............................................Torres.........................................................

Keyword here beeing POSSESSION.

The only reason for me to include Greek is him beeing a threat on set-pieces. We could probably use that in this game.

They didn't deserve to win. A draw would have been the fairest result.

I doubt it too, seeing as Gerrard's injured.

I'd like to see Aurelio play, and Kelly too ideally. I also think it would be a nonsense to drop Maxi, who played well against Chelsea and West Ham, for Cole and/or Jovanovic, neither of whom have done anything this season. Put them on the bench, and see what they can do as subs.

Reina

Kelly - Carra - Skrtel - Aurelio

Magic - Ming - Lucas - Maxi

Kuyt - Torres

But we are not the same standard as Bolton or ManU. Not Arsenal either for that matter.

there's a chance to beat anyone, depends on the day. look at the chelsea game, for example.

reina
johnson carra greek konchesky

lucas poulsen

kuyt meireles cole

torres

i think he'll go for something like that, unfortunately

Even worse, he'll start with Kyrgiakos and Skrtel in the centre with Carra at right back. Bale vs Carra is something I do not wish to see at all. Granted Johnson's not a great defender, but it's important for him to play at right back as his runs forward will at least push Bale back. Kuyt ahead of him should be sufficient to neutralise Bale. Starting with Carra at right-back and sitting deep is just an invitation to get raped.

------------------------Reina
Johnson-----Carra----------Skrtel-------Kelly/Aurelio
----------------Shelvey----Meireles---------------

what is your reasoning for him to start carragher at rb? it makes no sense for him to do so, given carraghers attributes, when up against the likes of bale.

He's played him there before a few times already. And because he probably doesn't think too highly of Johnson defensively, he might just think putting the Greek in the centre and Carra at right-back would give us more defensive stability.

I see no need to change the team that beat the hammers to be fair, they played well, show some confidence in them and let them get on with it. Changing Cole for N'Gog is an option i would consider though

* 25 Reina
* 02 G Johnson
* 03 Konchesky
* 23 Carragher
* 37 Skrtel
* 04 Raul Meireles
* 17 Maxi
* 28 C Poulsen
* 09 Torres
* 18 Kuyt
* 24 Ngog

I am guessing this means that Poulsen is starting.

Roy Hodgson hailed the 'mental strength' of Christian Poulsen after the midfielder produced one of the best performances of his Liverpool career so far against West Ham.

The Dane returned to the Reds' starting line-up in the absence of skipper Steven Gerrard and gave a good account of himself, leaving the boss more than pleased with how his No.28 responded to the challenge.

"Steven is important and if we're going to have a good season we need him but it was good for the players to win like that without him," Hodgson said.

"Those players who came into the side did very well and it increases the level of competition. It also stops people accusing us of being a one man or a two man team.

"If you want an example of mental strength then Christian Poulsen will give you that.

"He hasn't had a good time and has been criticised. He's not played to his potential but he's been playing in a team which hasn't done well.

"But he's gone out there and given an outstanding performance. In a good team he showed what a good player he is.

"Raul Meireles also did very well and the important thing for us was getting him on the ball.

"It was a very good team performance which I suppose will be written off a bit because West Ham aren't having a good time but we can only play what's in front of us and do the best job we can."

In all fairness, I don't think judging anyones performance against West Ham would be the most accurate barometer.

He was okay against a poor side

Has Poulsen come out and given any interviews since he's been here, I don't recall any..

'One of the best performances of Poulsen's LFC career' is about as faint as praise gets.

He was a defensive midfielder against a side that never attacked. I don't think it tells us anything at all about his mental strength tbh.

carra tends to play rb only when necessary, i.e. due to injuries. you could argue he could have played kelly but that's unimportant. I may be wrong, but i can't think of a time when carra has played rb ahead of a fit johnson

got to agree with that, but would add it was also noticed he did not make any mistakes!

Can't believe how many 'supporters write us off so easily despite evidence to the contrary !

Let's start with Spurs' home record 3-3-1 : just 3 wins from 7 - that's worse than ours. Goals ? 1.5 to 1. Spurs have also been awful after CL matches. And there is this :-

whisper it quietly, there is evidence to suggest the Reds are rediscovering the art of consistency.

Making such a statement may sound ridiculous, given the wounds of the Britannia Stadium debacle are still fresh, but it is impossible to argue with figures and since losing to Everton on October 17, Liverpool’s points to games ratio is the second best in the division.

Only Manchester United (14) can better Liverpool’s haul of 13 points from the last 18 available; Arsenal’s free-flowing football has brought them 12 in the same period while the nation’s favourite club, Tottenham Hotspur, have managed a haul of eight, one fewer than Chelsea.

No wonder the bookies give us a 6/10 chance of at least a point.
