Worst player to ever play for Liverpool? He should fuck off back to Australia.

Am I doing it right? Jesus. Give it a rest, would you? This young kid is thrown in a game like this and people are expecting fucking Maldini.

He's young and yes, he didn't have the best game but c'mon. He's a Liverpool player. Show some respect.

I kinda felt sorry for him and to be honest, Rodgers is the one who should be copping the flack for playing him when Allen was injured and leaving Alberto on the bench.

Awful statements............20 mins for 18 year old coming on for his debut in this pressure cooker of a game.

Im a fan of Johnson, though this kinda virtue should be reserved for him after his performances of late...

I'd happily have him starting over Cissokho against Hull if it came to that, but don't think it's inaccurate to say that he was completely crap today.

With the injury situation, he'll get easier opportunities to show us what he's made of, but I hope we see better than someone who repeatedly failed to trap a ball.

He was fucking shit. Yes it was Rodgers fault but he was shit. But he's a Liverpool player you say? Like that's stopped anyone.

I'm afraid bringing him on struck me as a rather cynical move by Rodgers. Feel sorry for the kid.
It was a pretty weird move, especially when we had Alberto on the bench. What's with Alberto anyway? Why do we spent a good amount of money on players never to give them a chance?

Not exactly the best game to bring him on in, and a poor decision considering alberto was on the bench. Ideally you'd bring him on in a game you're miles clear in. Maybe alberto has been wank in training and smith not bad.

He wasn't great, but what do you expect? Probably wrong to throw him on, but that wasn't his fault.

But the flack he is getting , to the extent that a thread about the refs performance becomes another forum for slagging him off is disgusting in my view, and makes me sad that supposed Liverpool fans can take such a stance

Exactly this, I like Rodgers but now and then he pulls shit like this to prove a point and it really annoys me.

Throw Smith on, if he sinks it sends a message that he needs more players for the squad, if he swims then great he gave youth a chance and it worked.

My first ever game in the Irish league was away to Linfield at Windsor Park. Came on as a sub with about 12 mins to go, touched it once, fell over a couple of times, and generally ran around trying not to do anything wrong. I was fucking horrendous.

I was reminded of that mare whilst watching young Smith. A rabbit in the headlights is what that was. He'll learn from it, he'll be better for it, and he was obviously given the chance cos he has shown something in the lower levels.

No disguising he was shite, and he'll know that, but he's a kid, and not one of us can imagine how difficult it'd be to come on away to fucking Chelsea when they're battering us, and be asked to play your part.

I saw Suarez shouting at him at one point for not putting a cross in or something, and my respect for Suarez managed to drop to even lower levels.

1. Played out of position
2. Played in front of another player who's not playing in his best position
3. Thrown into the fray while the team was chasing the game
4. Out for 9 months due to anterior cruciate ligament injury and only made his return in October
5. If Rodgers was trying to prove a point about squad depth, then he also indirectly raised doubts over his signings
6. Gentle reminder to fans clamoring for inclusion of young players (such as McLaughin) into starting XI. Not everyone is/can be a Barkley.

Hope he gets a chance against Oldham.

He looked like a 15 year old virgin about to bang Madonna when he was coming off the bench.
Its the sort of shit that I fucking despise about managers egos.

He was part of Rodgers plan today.
Sad really.

Does make one wonder why there's a need for 2 left backs on the bench. Granted, we haven't had much options available but there's still the likes of Teixeira, Ngoo and Brannagan to provide options for other positions.

It was obvious what he was up to straight away.
Fair enough the squad is weak but it screams I need to spend in January.
Hope Jw was watching though.

Yup.

My squad is so bare I have to play a kid against Chelsea.
Lets not mention the summer signings that have hardly featured at all though

Perhaps we need to change the personell on the transfer comitee

Binny shows that he's not all about stats and general Internet wizardry.

Good post. I hope (5) wasn't a big part in Rodger's thinking because that would be too Rafa-esque (in the bad years) for my liking.

She'll adopt kids from anywhere for her own gratification, that Madonna. Disgusting that LFC have succumbed.

Binny`s spot on. Personally I would've preferred Teixeira, Ibe (who have been heads and shoulders above the rest in the u21`s lately) or Alberto (who has warranted another go after his impressive cameos recently).
