Pump the brakes there buddy. Awful performance but he has been our best centreback for years and has been out for weeks.
He was very crap. But it's his first game back.
What I want to know is why we looked like a Rodgers team every single time Southampton countered. Why oh why would we only have 3 players back there when we're not chasing a game? Are the cunts that thick?

In April, we'll be claiming how he should be starting beside Matip next season, and how Lovren and Sakho should be sold. Lovren will probably be given that honour in May ahead of the other two. Or maybe Toure will suddenly be resurrected as the best CB at the club again.
When all's done and dusted, every CB we have would've been touted as the best of the rest and slammed as the worst of the lot in the same season. They're all not good enough to be starting regularly for us next season. These two or three seasons have shown that but yet people still get excited after a few good games from any one of them and are ready to give them another chance.

He has been our worst central defender for years. Headless chicken and very weak. Sell in the summer.
Martin has been at times outstanding and often very good for us and doesn't deserve the instant hate he is getting after today's very poor performance which comes after being out for four months.
There is definitely a case to be made for him to be moved on.

You cant judge him on that one performance, he deserves better than that. But holy fuck that was epic, weve witnessed some outrageously poor defending over the years but that 45 minutes from Skrtel was up there with the best of them, I cant think of anything he actually did right.
I dont really get the Flanno love in, hes not a good player. His touch is heavy, he doesnt read the game well, his distribution is poor and hes frequently in the wrong position. Hes got 100% commitment but thats really it
The problem with Skrtel is not so much how he plays as how he makes the whole defense play. I feel like we back off and play very deep when he's on. Everything becomes last ditch and we get shit like the 2nd half today.

This. He's always dropping off which is putting us under pressure. Our defence looked even more unorganized in the 2nd half. We weren't all good defensivley in the first half but they didnt have one shot on goal. Skrtel needs to be replaced.

3 goals in 8 matches whilst he has been out (not sure how long he's been out for in total) and 3 (should have been 4) in 45 mins since his return. It's not all on him but we were going to win that before he came on, they simply hadn't looked like scoring in the first half (bar the penalty shout).
Nail on the head. He isn't a leader and can't organise the defense at all but he think he is an excellent leader so he do it all his own way and the rest of the defense must follow his orders because he don't give a shit about what they say.
We have seen him for many years not be even close to holding the line. Instead he is suddenly three, four yards on the wrong side. He is also very weak. Shirt pulling because he don't have the strenght to do it the right way is just one example.
Did he tell him to defend like a 8 year old girl? Maybe we should have brought Kolo on but I doubt anyone on that bench thought Skrtel would be THAT shite.
Seriously ? I'm struggling to remember anything Flanno did wrong .. other than lose possession that led to a goal ... but that was from a hospital pass from Can.
He'd be ok if he has someone with balls and better judgment telling him what to do all the time - as he actually had for a lot of his career with us.
