Opinions...with which I don't agree. I'd swap Skrtel for any of the players you've listed there.

Yeah, because if the other defenders aren't up to standard and he's the best of the bunch, then it makes sense that as far as pecking orders go, he's the last one to be replaced, on current form anyway. I'd rather have Skrtel as an option than any of the others, he's a good defender.
Argue whether he's good enough, but when he played alongside Hyypia he was, we've nearly won the title with him in the side twice, so he's clearly good enough with the right players around him. Last season we were poor defensively, but he wasn't a big culprit and at the other end of the pitch he was the top scoring defender in the league.
He needs the right partner and at the same time, we need a quality leader at the back. Lovren is poor, Sakho has looked good in fits and starts, Toure is neither here nor there, good for the dressing room and the odd game.

All of our defenders will look better if they are unburdened of this need to' play out from the back' and have a competent DM in front of them. I don't think they're bad defenders they just tend to be busier than they should be as they are unprotected, The more work they have to do the more likely the mistakes. They are being made to play in ways that don't suit them. Few of them are good passers or visionary, so bypass them, just let them concentrate on defending if they need to.
My feelings more or less. I think it will be a loss in the short-term because he is our most dependable defender and for that reason it's probably better to keep him but if he ends up going you'd like to think that we could get someone in to replace him and that that someone will be younger and cheaper.;
I hope your not going to turn this into a campain re Suarez. We need him desperately at the moment and he knows it .
If we lose Skirtel now. ..... ... ... .. We will not make fourth.

Wouldn't even say it's the play out from the back lark, it's the play out from the back while the nearest players to you are 30 yards in every direction. There's nothing wrong with playing out from the back (but punting when you need to), it's the sheer stretching of our defense which is the real crux of our fuck ups.
I think its madness to loose a leading figure of a fragile defence.... He is a good rolemodell and a good pro and must be valuable to the squad. We cant defend as a unit but Skrtel is not afraid to dig in when needed.
