[article=http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/transfers/martin-skrtel-calls-liverpools-contract-extension-offer-unacceptable-suggests-hell-leave-aktualne/]Martin Skrtel’s future at Anfield has been called into question in recent weeks after the defender reportedly rejected a new contract.

According to the rumor mill, Skrtel’s uncertain future has alerted Wolfsburg, Napoli and Inter Milan to a possible move.

The 30-year-old defender joined Liverpool back in 2008, and his current deal with the club expires in 2016.

Skrtel has now given an interview to Slovakian news outlet Aktualne, and the defender has called out the Reds for their transfer dealings with him.

Without going into details of any figures, Skrtel called the contract offer presented to him as “unacceptable”.

Skrtel said that “older players” and “players with health problems” were on higher wages, “so I felt that I could sign such an agreement”. He added:

There has been some speculation about the interest of other clubs, and they are currently being addressed. [/article]

Good job we tied Adam Lallana to that lengthy contract eh?

I'm sure there is a point in here somewhere Mark, but I'm failing to get it.

Regardless, don't take the hump with me just cos you've been called out for being a painful bellend of late.

If Rodgers has lost the players then it makes FSG's decision to stick with him even more baffling.

I've always been a bit meh about Skrtel. He's the most consistent CB we've had since Carra and Sami but he's still just prone to too many daft mistakes and giving away pens and freekicks.

Probably means Toure and Sturridge regarding the higher wages I would think. He has a point with Toure. I know we got him on a free transfer but he didn't figure that much for us and when he did was largely ineffective so to be on a higher wage than your most consistent and available centre half seems strange.

He gave away one penalty last season and one the season before that lol.

Biggest load of shite ever is this myth that Skrtel concedes loads of free kicks and penalties.

I wonder. He may not be a world-beater but I'd prefer not to have to replace any more players than absolutely necessary, for financial and other reasons.

Harsh IMO. He's had as many good games as iffy ones, e.g.last season when he played Real almost on his own in the Bernabeu.

Agree about the wages though. He shouldn't be getting more than Skrtel.

Don't see how this is Rodgers fault - he's not the one doing the negotiations - although he must have indicated he wanted the player for negotiations to commence.

It's a worrying situation when Skrtel is borderline our best centre back. This in a football club that has had players of the ilk of Carragher, Hyppia, Hansen, Piechnik, Lawrenson...

Not top class but been a decent enough player. Not arsed about him if he goes. But then I think the current crop are a bunch of pricks anyway. Not arsed about any of them leaving.

I think DHSC's point is that, if the players are disenchanted with Rodgers, that may be making them more willing to dig their heels in over contract talks than they otherwise would be.

He didn't say that about other players in the translation I saw. He said the contract only paid fully with a certain high amount of appearances and that it was the type of contract that would normally be given to an older player or one with a bad injury record. He finds that unacceptable so hasn't signed it. I think some of you (DHSC really) are reading things into it that are not there.

He's the one CB we've got who has proven himself time and time again. He had a poor year last year but he has had some terrific years and been voted fans player of the year twice in his time here. For me he is largely unappreciated and believe tying him down is important, especially so when we have no replacement we can rely upon.

I'm all for incentives for players but, once again, FSG seem terribly rigid here. With a player of Skrtel's age, and his mentality, it's a bit silly to link pay to appearances. For one thing, he's more likely to miss games through the manager resting him than through injury or poor form, so there's no incentive there. Contracts for 30+ aged players need to be bespoke. If it was for Johnson, you'd take note of his injury record and his uneven form and tailor the contract accordingly. If it's for Skrtel, you'd surely just give him a short contract with the option to roll it on a year, there's no need for special clauses. He's no legend but he's got some justification, IMO, to react in the way he has to this sort of clumsy gesture.

Bears all the hallmarks of governing from afar.

Google translate is boss for the last question.

becomes...

Coach Brendan Rodgers offered his post, but the debate with the owners remains likely in the next season. Are you personally like?
"Coaching is a question to the owner, we will not add much to the players. I think Rodgers proved their quality coaching, the owners held onto it, so I can say I love you."

If he does leave because we're spastics with contracts I'll be miffed

I wouldn't lose any sleep if he went. I'd rather he stayed obviously, but he's not the greatest defender in the world.

Looking at him in isolation like that doesn't make sense though. We'd have the trouble and expense of trying to find even an equivalent replacement, let alone a better one, and the upheaval of trying to fit any replacement into an already dodgy defence. All of that would be very well worth avoiding.

Also, in a team woefully short both of experience and leadership, having a long-serving player who's captain of his country is not something to be blasé about. You really do wonder what exactly is going on at the club - they create extra problems when they already have more than enough to focus on.

Then what?
We signed Lovren as a sure thing.
Kolo?
Sakho?
Ilori?
They are all wank.
