We've got 20 points out of 24.

That's a phenomenal stretch.

Don't look now lads, but we've become consistently good.

Kudos to Rodgers.

yeah fair fucks , overall it's a great reaction to those 2 back to back defeats , they easily could have derailed us .

And it could even have been more , the dropped points were against villa and west brom . That's the next step for me , cutting out those sloppy lethargic displays. That and obviously the defence , we conceded 12 goals during those 8 games with only 2 cleansheets . Our attack has bailed us out the last 2 games but can they do that every game ? we're making it hard on ourselves and it will come back to haunt us if we can't improve it .

oh and we've scored 26 goals during those games , so that's 38 goals in the 8 games we've been involved in . You get your monies worth watching us that's for sure! . although you might have a few heart murmurs .

Title winning form.

If we can match that for the next 8 games while losing the 4 points to teams below us we will right in the mix until the end for the title and 4th will be in the bag

We've got fourth as far as I'm concerned.

That Swansea game coupled with Spurs against Norwich confirmed it. I still think Arsenal can really drop but I think Chavs, Citeh and ourselves will finish top 3.

Just looking at the fixtures you'd have to say Chelsea look a good bet - they have a better run home over those last 11 games but, as Jose is pointing out ad nauseum, they will struggle with the CL and the league. They've got a better squad than us for sure but not twice as good. Their CL draw gives them a good opportunity to go further and that, to me, is the main thing standing in their way.

Would that be the best form of any team in the league over the last 8 games? Next week is a huge one though, its a very tough game at St Marys and Southampton are one of our recent bogey teams. It'll be tough to get the win there, and after that we're going to miss out on a few games due to postponement, which could cause teams to catch up with us, or move away from us, of course we'd have games in hand, but it would heap a lot of pressure on us.

One game at a time for the next 11 games. That is all we have to to play for.

Target: Realistically 4th, 3rd at best.

We've 3 tough away games to come. Saints, Utd and Cardiff. I think anything over 6 points will be exceptional. Weirdly, I fancy our chances much more at OT than St Mary's.

I don't, United will be REALLY up for that game, the way things are looking, it really is going to be their cup final this season.

Yeah, they will treat it how Everton did. Dogs of war shit, like it's the only game they need to win to keep the fans happy.

That said, if it means they come out at is guns blazing it will mean they leave space at the back.

If they fluff their lines in Greece this week, then their cup final will actually be the midweek game against Olympiakos 3 days after they play us. Continued involvement in the tournament represents their most realistic chance right now of returning next season, so if they don't get a good away result, that will play on their minds.

Let's hope Olympiakos trips them up this week - the Greeks have won every home game this season outside of a thumping by PSG (in fact, PSG is the only team to beat them this season - twice). Their CL opponents (Anderlecht, Benfica) lost there as well; okay, they aren't great shakes, but still, with a 15-0-1 record at home, I'd like to think Olympiakos would fancy their chances of getting a result, especially against a faltering Man United side this season.

Anyway, like the good doctor, I am more worried about playing at St. Mary's. Take that game down, and we can let the Mancs do the worrying.

We have 2 weeks off before the scum game because the Sunderland game is postponed right? Great for the team to recharge and come out guns blazing.

United's aging defence, with a combined age of 540 against Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling and Coutinho.

TBH, i'd prefer to keep playing seems as we're playing so well. If we don't do well against Southampton, which is completely feasible, then we could be going into this game with Spurs ahead of us in fourth, which would put us under enormous pressure.

We have a while before we discuss tactics for that United game but we would need to OWN the midfield to stop Carrick & Fletcher supplying Mata/Rooney/RVP. Hopefully Sakho is back if they plan on playing 80 odd crosses but I would think the game will be won by Hendo, Coutinho and Gerrard playing like they did against Everton.

Yep. We nail the Southampton game, and we can rest a bit, for both fans and players alike. If we don't, it'll be a miserable two-week wait. We might need to flash a health warning here in that event during those 2 weeks.

It's their cup semi-final / final, not ours. I'd let them do the worrying. #MoyesIsThere

Yep. I'd like to see the club take the squad away for team bonding and all that shit (but no banging each others wives or Bellamy golf lessons). Give them a real break then get them back for 5 days before the United game and get them buzzing.

I don't think it is a game we can take lightly - if we let them attack us like we did Swansea they will put several past us. Their midfield, defence, and general tactical approach is heavily flawed and if we go out to kill them from the off I think we could surpass the 4-1 of 2009!

Until we are 9pts clear of spurs I wont be comfortable. At the moment, if we went on a wobble of losing 2 and then drawing one, we'd be knackered. Seems every game is a must win to stay in the top 4 or whatever at the moment. We've been on a brilliant run though, BUT, we've only played two 'big' teams in that run, everton and spurs, and we only won one of those. For the next two months we have at least 2 tough games a month on paper:

March:
Southampton A
Scum A
Spurs H

April:
City H
Chelsea H

It's all well and good battering the dross, but we've got to take some serious point out of those big games.

We need a very good, comprehensive away win. I think that's the last breakthrough to make in this period of the season. We've looked very confident at home but it's been a bit shaky away. If we can thump Southampton I'll feel really confident.

I don't fancy that game at all, our record there is pretty poor and their pressing game is as good, if not better, than ours. I fancy us to fuck Chelsea over at home though.

Bollocks. I hate this 'team bonding holiday' shite.

There will always, always be a player or two who have too much ale, or the manager & staff have to treat them like kids & monitor them, which pisses them off.

They have every other summer to go on holiday, if you want some team bonding, winning matches doss it better than anything else.

I never remember Ferguson taking Utd away, or Wenger taking Arsenal away, or even Mourinho taking Chelsea away.

It's usually used by teams struggling at the foot of the table simply because the morale is so low due to the fact they haven't been winning games together, which is what really bonds the team.

Our team is about as bonded as I can remember since 2009, & the players actually seem much happier now, they celebrate for each other as if they scored themselves & play with a smile on their faces (except steven, who doesn't do smiling very often).

A bit of light training, some one on one coaching with some players (Hendo, Coutinho & Sterling practicing shooting with Sturridge & Suarez, the defenders learning how to defend, & Mignolet being introduced, very slowly, to the bit of the pitch in front of his goal line) & some family time off, interspersed with some non publicity driven visits to alder hey etc to remind them how bloody lucky they are & how many kids want them to win.

Have I missed something here or did I just dream Spurs 0-5 and Everton 4-0 ?

Now, I'm hardly there biggest fans, but some would consider Arsenal a big team too.

Yes, you dreamt that. The OP was regards to SINCE the chelsea game. We have not played spurs since then, we've played arsenal in the league and everton in the league - we won one of those.
