Sell the Jota?

I haven’t really been following his injuries much, is there any sort of pattern to suggest he’s an Ox with a particular weakness or a sturridge where everything is weak?

Hopefully he doesn’t come across this thread because it’s reading like his Liverpool career obituary. He is genuinely something a bit different in terms of his directness, early shooting, hard /intelligent pressing and general opposition harassing qualities.

I do recall injury layoffs at wolves and we paid around£40m didn’t we? With that in mind and the fact Newcastle should be made to pay over the odds to land anyone decent, not sure getting our money back is a good enough deal.
The worst one was against midgetland. A dead rubber and he picked up an injury then had a spell out.

Last season picked up an injury then we rushed him back a little too quickly. Picked up another knock but ended up being called up by Portugal who made it worse. Then came back completely unfit. Then got injured again earlier this season.

He’s a unique forward in our team. I like his press and the fact he’s a bit of a cunt. Our cunt.
I doubt we will sell for what we paid. Only more.

When was the last time he scored? Asking I don't genuinely remember his last goal.

April I think. He was unlucky against Bournemouth because it was going in apart from the hand ball.

strangely i looked at the summer freebies and there’s a shit load of centre mids listed but not that many forwards

What you’re saying is that we can buy Jude plus two more mids for the price of Jude?

Haha you think John Henry agrees with that interpretation?

Yea the dumbass decision to play him against midget land is one of the few things i remember about his injury history.

I would rather keep him to be honest. He's still young-ish, and he's proven to be a good player when fit.

Maybe we will be lucky next season and have everyone available all the time and playing well, in which case he might be surplus to requirements but I certainly wouldn't put money on that.

That said, if we are in a position where we need to sell someone in order to strengthen elsewhere then he'd have to come into that equation, sadly.

Martinelli
Grealish/Foden
Mitoma
Allan Saint-Maximin
Son Heung-min
Mudryk/Sterling
Zaha
Gray/Mcneil
Gnonto/Harrison
Neto/Troare
Willian/Solomon
Barnes
Benrahma
Rashford

... wingers from other 14 sides I wouldn't back TAA in a 1 v 1 battle against.

By that measure we need another RB for the games we're not dominating.
Fixed.

Dont think the other 5 sides play with wingers so we’re good against them.

If Jota leaves, what realistically are the alternatives? I know the Georgian is off the table. Real Madrid will probably make a bid for him.
Switch to two strikers, and use the likes of Ben and Fab C more?

Diaz, Nunez, Salah?
Kudus back up. Signed for 45 mill.

Man U are favourite to sign him. The alternative to him would be Xavi Symons who has more goals and assists than Kudus, and Xavi is dutch which sits well with the AM and moonlighting SD, Pep L.

I really like Jota. On form he is great forward and a niggly wee bustard at that. However out of all our walking wounded he must be up there with the worst injury record. So sell.

I like his innate bite and aggression too. He’s a useful squad option no doubt.

But he’s nowhere near a great forward even when in form, and with his injury record we could do better.

Jota's a good player, we know that. And we all know it comes down to money, if FSG are going to give us £200M, keep Jota. If they're going to give us £50M, we need to find money. And £60M income for Jota would be a no-brainer.

The problem is, we'd have to replace him. We'd need to have someone lined up on a free / cheap or we are going to have to waste every penny signing a replacement.

That would leave us with Mo, Diaz, Gakpo, Carvalho and Nunez. and no combination of those inspires confidence (to me anyway).

Add Jota into the mix and that statement doesn’t change.

If we had the money, I’d want an attacker in the summer.

My biggest fear is we don't sign enough players. It might be the case we just get Bellingham.

Jota's the kind of player you need in a squad if you want to win the league. He's the type who pops up with a run of form in March/April and grabs a few goals to edge out some tight 2-1 wins.

If we have any ambition he has to stay.

If Jota does go and we know Bobby is going, that then forces Klopp to buy another left sided attacker

It doesn't really, not when we've got Diaz and Nunez. We need a right sided attacker and probably a young striker to push the others. Salah isn't going to be around much longer, so we only then really have Gapko, Nunez and Diaz. With the latter having been injured a lot. We need one or two attackers regardless of whatever else happens.

Remember when we only had Mane, Firmino,Salah and Origi..?? We now have Mo, Diaz, Gakpo, Carvalho Nunez and Jota. So why not sell him?.

Besides we look more dangerous and create more chances with a fit Daiz, so I'm not worried so long as it is Diaz plus a combination of Gakop,Nunez and Salah

Nah. If we have any ambition then we better start acting like an ambitious club in the summer by spending big for the first time since we signed Ali Virg Naby & Fab

Agree - what I mean is, if we have ambition we shouldnt be needing to sell valuable squad players in order to raise funds.
