I love that the muslim song is news across the globe, with write ups in everything from al-jazeera to the washington post. You'd like to think it's all points in the goodwill bank for when Madrid come knocking, but we'll see.

Healing race relations since 1892

Madrid seem to be at risk of not qualifying for the CL next season, which would help things no end.

He won't get the golden boot, apparently. Misses too many chances, doesn't sore enough hatricks, is a winger not a striker or is a just another Liverpool player

It's awarded to the player who scores the most goals, so all of your other hysterical, non-existent criteria aren't relevant

So I watched this video and wrote down which player assisted Salah for every one of his first 30 goals for Liverpool (feels surreal to write this for a player who just arrived last summer). Here are the results:

Self-created goals: 8
Firmino: 6 assists
Mane: 4 assists
Milner: 3 assists
Coutinho: 2 assists
Can: 2 assists
Gini, Hendo, Trent, Moreno, Ox: 1 assist each

A couple of conclusions:
  1. Phil's importance as a "chance creator" for Salah is a bit of a myth. His most important attacking link-ups by some distance are his front 3 partners, Firmino and Mane. The evidence of the last few games post-Phil confirms this.
  2. "Self-created" accounts for 27% of his goals, which shows that he is much more than just a "finisher" or "poacher." Maybe some day I'll compare his stats with Suarez, but I think it's going to be similarly around 25-30% of "self-created" goals from Luis. This is a mark of a top striker.
  3. Firmino is an awesome partner to play with. If there is one player whose absence could negatively affect Salah's production, I think it's Bobby.

We don't deserve you

I think it's safe to say, that Barcelona got the wrong man.. from their perspective.

MO SALAH, SALAH, YOU ARE THE BEST, HURRAH

Not sure they need Salah so much since he has a similar movement to Messi (cutting in on his left) and they would just get in each other’s way. But yeah, I was just thinking that Coutinho is not quite a player who makes everyone around him better; he is someone who needs others to provide him a platform to shine. Integrating him into Barca team that’s built all around supporting Messi won’t be easy and so far he’s struggling.

Guys, I mean thank you, but really why all this praise? All I did here was count the assists, that’s not so hard. I really don’t consider myself one of the more knowledgeable posters about football here; I just tend to write long posts and try my best to be objective, that’s all.
There are some truly excellent posters on this site, people with incredible knowledge and insight from whom I learn a lot, but you sir are right at the top. Thank you.

It's almost like coutinho is a shithouse who can't kick on...

I'd lay odds that Suarez' figure for "self-created" will be higher than that. Excellent post though, as others have rightly said.

But.. YOU CAN COUNT, MATE!?

@RedNinja and others envy you greatly.. *friendly pinch of the cheek*

That's what you say now, but then maybe this summer Redcafe or Rawk will come in with a bid for you and you'll down tools and throw a strop ....

Because you're our Tomkins. Except you don't write a 20 page essay and dress it up. You call it as you see it and 9 and a half times out of 10 you're spot on. You're probably one of the most knowledgeable fans on this forum not just about lfc but other leagues. If the Lizards sold you for a profit we'd be fucked.

Yeah Rurik - You are certainly one of the posters I'd like to rim until you pass out. (That's a term of endearment by the way!) Seriously though, I love what you write. Intelligent, informed and well researched good honest knowledge. This site is lucky to have you contribute. Stay great X L
