Rodgers

Only one loser that day buddy and it was that fake, pretend, yellow, continuity Tayto.🙂

The independent taster picked the northern Tayto as best - you Mexicans just couldn't accept Norther superiority. 🙂

A cup win won't mean a damn thing if we don't finish fourth. That's just my opinion.
Unless it's the Europa League of course.

then what do you want ? I know a cup win doesnt mean anything to a lot of guys but that will at least show if he can pull it off. I want gerrard to win something before he leaves the club.

Also, I had never expected a straight forward 4th finish in this season after the loss of Suarez. Well it is the management (including Rodgers) that we couldnt bring in and we suffered till now. But Rodgers is at least showing some signs of improvement. But if we finish something like 7th and dont win anything, I would sack him.

I thought Rodgers was done a few months ago.

However from dropping out of form players to changing the system for the better and getting us playing something like the Football we saw last season, Brendan has turned it around.

We're not their yet, far from it but the signs are promising. Momentum is building.

Well said.

Well, I think Whirly or anybody else has a right to be pessimistic on Rodgers. Let's try to always respect whatever opinion happens to be in the minority at the moment; a couple of months ago backing Rodgers was the unfashionable view and everything could (and probably will) change again. Only time will tell and even if somebody is proven wrong, it's no fucking big deal. We're just a bunch of amateurs discussing football; let's just admit we all basically have no idea what the fuck we're talking about.

No, your opinion is wrong. Me and my pal here have the right opinion and you're a fuck head for having the opinion you just expressed. And when it finally becomes evident that you were right I will berate you for even bringing it up.

Mark youre better than this.

No he's not. He's mental.

Whirly's right, our best form was when we went away from Rodgers philosophy last season and played on the counter.

Anyone who thought we were on some terminal decline before Xmas that could only be arrested by changing the manager is basically your garden variety stupid football fan.

Lots of whom probably think we should give him a new contract because things are going well again.

What are you going on about? We didn't just play counter attacking football, we hunted teams down and didn't give them a minute. People have an idea in their heads of what his philosophy is and seem to be as stubborn about it as he is depicted to be. So he likes the Tika-Taka blueprint, so what? That means that he stringently won't veer away from it? That's why we've probably seen more variations of formations with him, than any other previous manager? He, for the record, selected the formations last season and adopted or implimented the style of play, but because it's a different setup in principle (or more accurately, in part), than styles he's expressed a preference for, he therefore can't take any credit for it?

And I'm mental.

May I enquire where this independent taster was from? Hopefully not from the land of Walkers.

No.... The land of dunnies, flaming galahs, prawns on the barbie & vegemite.

Admittedly they have a retarded selection of crisp flavours in the land if the baby eating dingo.... But she called it for the Northies.

I see you're back to being the snidey WUM we all know and love. Didn't fucking last long, did it?

He won't get sacked unless we disastrously drop in the league, only an idiot would be so short-termist, the promise is there. Who the fuck are we gonna replace him with? Another 5yr plan from Rafa?

Yeah I got it from you. Mr "you're better than this".

If you have to use put downs to express an opinion does that mean you have no time for yourself as well.

I wouldn't want you to bully yourself.

She was just about as independent as the Republic of Scotland.

I forgot I'm one of the ones who was bleating on about possession football and how its the right way to play the game, it stops the other team from scoring and also makes them more tired!

Or hang on maybe that was some other clueless cunt

Fair enough, not sure whether that last bit is directed at me, but I don't recall saying that you can play teams into submission in every game. I've always maintained that that ideal is flawed, because you can't have the majority of the ball in every game, so you need to be disciplined as well.

I just find it mental that people backed Houllier and then Benitez, who were as stubborn as they come, yet when it comes to Rodgers, he doesn't get half the time or patience. Yes, all managers have egos and are stubborn, but despite his blindspots defensively, he's probably been more tactically flexible than either of those two. People seem to want to shoehorn him into a certain style that he's said he's preferred, so when he adopts a different approach, it can't be accredited to him. "He's stumbled upon it by accident/he's been forced to do it", or some other factor out of his realm. It's all bullshit really. The mark of a good manager is being able (and willing) to adapt your thinking and your so called philosophy, which he has done, alot.

.

What is wrong with tweaking our style last season and persisting with something that we were receiving so much joy from? Last season we won game after game. It was some of the best football I've seen as a Liverpool fan. I wasn't at home or at the games shaking my head disapprovingly at Rodgers. How dare he go against his own favoured system and get the best out of Suarez or Sturridge. This takes us to Whirly, he doesn't trust Rodgers as he 'benefitted' from a style of play that wasn't his own. I don't even care for Rodgers really but it's ridiculous to fault him for sticking to the heavy metal brand of football that served us so well last year. We had to roll with it.

You like the gym Ross yeah? Lets say I was using my preferred style of working out but I wasn't receiving the gains I had hoped for. A gym buddy came in and revolutionized my training and I was suddenly receiving huge gains and was feeling great and looking great. Would I be criticised for sticking with this new style? No I wouldn't. It would be silly to go against what was working. I might dip back to my old philosophy wondering if I could get it right this time and that's normal.

That analogy doesn't really work though, because it's not like someone has come in and said, "work this way instead". Suppose you liked a certain set of weights and certain way of working out, but you weren't getting the gains, so you tried a different exercise and a different routine which you thought might produce a more effective outcome. And it worked. Well done for not aimlessly, religiously following your favoured routine, in the hope it would eventually just start working.

Yeah I dunno, I got distracted in work and lost myself in that analogy. I just clicked send before I did myself any more damage.

The click under stress classic - we all do it.

I couldn't agree more with your initial point. To fault BR for playing a different style of football and to discredit him for it is up there with the pope's position on birth control. Hard and painful to try and grasp that level of reasoning.
