Most definately a legend in my, and many peoples eyes, and 75 seems so young...
A sad day for football

Not the biggest, not the quickest, not the most skilful, not the hardest shot, not the best in the air BUT somehow the whole managed to be far, far greater than the sum of the parts.

Der Bomber RIP.
My old man still says he was the best ever striker.

This type of player is always magical in my eyes - physically average, but always in the right place, technically not flashy, but deadly effective. Robbie Fowler, Klinsmann, Raul, Bayern’s current Mueller… In Shakhtar Donetsk in the 70’s-80’s there was a striker whose nickname was “grandma,” he looked about 50 even before he turned 30, with decidedly average physique and clear signs of alcoholism, but somehow the ball would always find his balding head and bounce into the net. I think he ended up as the all-time leading scorer for Shakhtar, but then quickly drank himself to death.

Anyway, RIP Gerd.

I wonder if Thomas Muller is receiving tons of condolences from well wishers thinking its his dad that's passed away?
