Red hand of ulster flag

Well, the flag with the red hand with a star around it and the crown above it was the flag of the government of Northern Ireland. That government no longer exists, what with it being done away with in the 70's. Northern Ireland doesn't actually have its own flag.

Not a lot of people know that.

Are you sure

The red hand is actually a Gaelic symbol and there are 3 republic counties in Ulster, how is it offensive?

To be honest Pat, fuck the national flags. All they do is stir up divisions. They've got fuck all relevance to LFC at all other than the odd one with relevance to a specific player or manager sometimes but why some daytripping tool wants to make a big advertisement about where they're from I don't know. Especially when they're not watching the match and waving it at some other tool in a nearby stand and at the same time pissing off everyone else who's there to, you know, watch the game and support the team.
I agree with the waving it at other fans part. That's bollox, but I've no issue with someone having their flag with them. Granted I've never brought an Ireland to flag to anything bar an Irish match.

All flags other than the Australian flag were banned from A league games a few years ago..could still be the case..

Very multicultural here and twats are always stiring up shit that happend half way around the world hundreds of years ago. Turks getting high and mighty about the success of the Ottoman empire its always bizarre.

My old Sunday league team was compiled of 18+ nationalities and for the most part there were no issues. However things would get tense when the Eastern and Southern European lads got together.

I've yet to attend a game in any sport where in the middle of the game i turned to someone and said 'i think i need a flag to make this game better'

Edit: i quiffed

I don't know why an Ulster flag is offensive. The red hand is the officiial flag of Ulster (I think) regardless of what side of the sectarian divide people are on. Having said that I don't see why people need to bring flags to a Liverpool match.

Would you bring an Irish flag to a world cup that Ireland didn't qualify for?

I think quite often the flags are just an identifier of where you're from, for the purpose of holiday snaps and maybe getting on the telly.

You see loads of England flags with things like "Exeter" written on them at Internationals. It would be a bit strange to take a flag to a tournament you weren't playing in, though, but then I think it would be a bit strange to even attend a tournament in which the team you support weren't playing in.

My Scottish Father-in-law and a bunch of his mates are going to the Euros, and have gone to other tournaments. I'm really trying to get his tickets off him.

I wouldn't no but the lad I went to the World Cup in Brasil with had his Irish flag everywhere and it was in almost all of our photos. In fairness we met a lot of people and made a lot of friends because of that flag do I didn't mind but again not something I would do.

I was wearing a Brasil jersey for the most part.

This is like one of those English Language papers from school. There are 10 errors of grammar, spelling and punctuation in the following passage. Please circle and correct as many as you can find.

To be fair to Pat, English is technically his second language.
🙂

Was that the lad with the eyebrows? I bet people didn't even notice the flag.

I just remember that Dreamy wore the same shorts for 3 weeks... I'm assuming he just 'washed' them in the sea each day...

It seems the only people that have a problem with the flag, are the ones that don't realise it's a national flag as opposed to a sectarian flag, which it isn't.
