I agree. Its like kicking a puppy.Ha ha, Mark's absolutely fantastic but his admirable desire to be positive sometimes leads to a fit. I don't like arguing with him, he's a great fella.

Macca, read the hyperbole mate, we were going to get thrashed, embarrassed, etc. Like I said earlier, maybe we won't and maybe the line up the other week wasnt suited to tonight. We've shown character here tonight, maybe not enough endeavour, but not the cave in, defeatist crap people were talking about.
We played for a draw and maybe to nick it at the end. Instead we lost. We didn't play our strongest team with a view to other games. We had very very little chance of winning based on how we played. That's defeatist. It might be smart too, I've not got a clue.
You could argue that was the case regardless, but you seem to think that Rodgers put the team out with the expectation that it was most likely to get a result in this game, I just don't think thats supportable. I think Rodgers hedged his bets here a little, and given we've spent so long trying to be in this competition, it is frustrating to see Real, who aren't that great, pass it about at a canter and listen as we're described as plucky try hards who played manfully, in the same way that you'd hear of a non league side in the FA cup.
I think you mean the "cave in, defeatist crap" that Rodgers was talking about.
Lee Dixon has just summed up my thoughts.
Tragically.
What did he say?
McManaman and Scholes are banging on about positives and pluckyness and shit like that and Dixon just said 'We seem to be forgetting they lost the game, no points, Madrid were there for the taking poor as they were tonight and yet Liverpool lost the game and thats the bottom line of it'What did he say?
.......it is frustrating to see Real, who aren't that great, pass it about at a canter ......
Are you seriously saying Real are not that great? Or did you just mean tonight?
Are you fucking serious? What's this all that hyperbole with Lucas? He did fine, but "best midfield of the season"? As Mark1975 would say, "fuck off!" We lost the midfield battle decisively in the 1st half and defended with 8 men inside our penalty area at times. I think everybody is falling for Modo's trolling, it's plain disturbing how easy it is to sway opinion around here.
Look in the man of the match thread.Don't disagree with any of the names being handed out as good performers but surprised nobody else is naming Ming. Thought he did very well practically all game - best performance from him of the season.
Are you fucking serious?
Rurik hates Lucas. Hes always had this agenda. Why bother. Are you fucking serious?

Seems paradoxical telling you to ignore someones agenda.

Apologies I might be thinking of Pesam. What? I defended Lucas many times here. Almost left this forum because of Glock's abuse of this player.
Interesting game and decisions from Rodgers and very open to interpretation. It did look like the gulf in class was enormous in the first half and I understand keni's point. There is no shame at being down 1:0 to Real at half-time, but we defended deeper and deeper with every minute and it was just luck and Mignolet's saves that kept it from being a rout.
But we managed to weather the storm and in the 2nd half gave a better account of Liverpool FC. I thought after Gerrard, Sterling and Coutinho came in the gulf in quality noticeably shrunk. But we didn't have enough cutting edge to equalize and Ancelotti's Real were not going to take any risks – they just concentrated on seeing out the 1:0 lead and did it fairly comfortably. Overall, I think Rodgers escaped without too much damage to his reputation, the 2nd half performance saved him.
Our best players IMO:
Mignolet
Moreno
3rd place is tough to choose, I'll go for Toure
What? I defended Lucas many times on here. Almost left this forum because he was getting so much undeserved abuse one some point.
Like I said, Lucas did OK. Nothing unexpected: a few interceptions, one dangerous free-kick conceded and one bad give away, nothing in attack. A 6.5 performance if one is being generous. '"Best midfield of the season"? Not even fucking close!
