Relying on a half fit Lallana and not sure who is less shit between Ings/Solanke, we're going to struggle to win trophies. Getting a decent bench is nearly as important as a decent keeper.

Anyway, the bottom line is we need to be utterly ruthless in the transfer window this summer.

Get rid of all the dross - Karius, Moreno, Mignolet for certain. I'd also get rid of Lallana who's now 30 and has never shown any consistent ability to stay fit.

Add top class new players, and hopefully add players who bring some individuality as well. We're terribly reliant on a carefully constructed offensive system. Take that away from us, and we can look a very ordinary team. Need players who can express themselves outside of a system as well. You need that to win these one-off games.

It illustrated where we are as a club right now. A great first XI and thats it, we have no bench. Not replacing Coutinho hurt us not just in this game but over the run in having to play the same players every game.

I don't feel sorry for Karius because he's acted with such overblown confidence since he's arrived and his performances haven't merited that at all. The defence improving since he came into the team also coincided with Van Dijk arriving which in my opinion is a much bigger determining factor. The ones I feel sorry for are the fans who traveled over there and spent a fortune only to be let down by a goalie making such basic errors. The rest of the team played relatively well against what will be remembered as a legendary team and without our talisman is Salah we just came up short.
