Hahahaha

Yes, Mascherano missing is the reason we have won the last two games, that despite the fact he's been our best outfield player for the last two months
Trying to get Ryan to show any just due respect to Mascherano is like trying to get either of you to say, "Kuyt has been very average for 2 months now" or to get you to appreciate what Yossi has down since Feb last year.

It's just part of the forum ... Most of us have blind spots ... and anyways, we probably would have lost to Wolves and Villa had Mascherano been playing. He's the reason we're so poor - Lucas does the job he does defensively AND passes better!

Paddy / Froggy - knock it off.
Not required - at all.

I certainly didn't object to what Paddy said and I'm sure he won't to what I said. Just tongue in cheek banter !

There is no subjectivity on either side with Lucarse - and to a lesser extent Insua

Those that have for years claimed he would come good/needs time/ blah blah leap upon every display better than 'fucking dogshit' and laud it as 'motm' or excellent, when at best it was 'OK'. Bit pathetic really

There is also the other camp, not as embarrassing overall, who don't give him any credit ever, because it hurts to see such a dreadful footballer tplay for liverpool
I gave him 5, which was fair and accurate
This is true. Sometimes if Lucas makes a pass or he moves it quickly I find myself immediately jumping the gun to reward him with praise. Immediately after that initial shower of praise, I realise I wouldn't even blink if say Gerrard or Alonso had made a pass of the same ilk.

I'm the same with Insua. He completes a basic defending duty and I start to shower him with some minor superlatives.

The other ‘camp’ you speak of are worse though; at least we're being positive even if our appraisal does verge on the extreme at times. Ha.

Very well said, Oncey, ratings *are* subjective

That said, making Lucarse MOTM is fucking laughable. He had one of his better games, but ratings are supposed to be a metric that can be used for the whole team, on the same scale. Lucarse gets his own ratings level, in that great for him = 9, when in actual fact he was average.

Insua was also AWOL on several occasions, and, for the record, he *is* fucking slow. Slow as fuck, and no amount of revisionist 'always been a fan' I told you so's won't change that
Oncy - didn't mean to be 'rude' mate ! (I honestly thought you must have been on the lash to rate Insua an eight) !!

There seems to be no middle road with Insua - there are those that have seen his errors and chronic lack of pace and those that plough blithely on refusing to see any fault. Must be cause he's small and cuddly.
What a shit post. No one has been saying he is brilliant on this site - everyone, even those who give him a bit of support, have said he has struggled badly in recent weeks.

Dont resort to making shit up just because you feel you are being rounded on, it is pathetic.

He has looked sharper in his last two games after his rest at Arsenal. Before that he has been very lethargic and even clumsy at times.
He is attacking very competently too, now if he could just find an extra yard or two of pace. ha.

Just to pick up on the Lucas debate earlier, he didn't have a bad game for Lucas, but he is fucking well irritating the way he gives daft fouls away all the time, I wouldn't mind if they were genuine attempts to win the ball, but he just runs into people, clips heels, or turns his back and let them run into him with a gormless look on his face.

Hey Ho what a surprise. Yet another of Keni's arrogant attempts at a put down. You really should shut the fuck up because you can't carry them off like some. Pathetic indeed.

If some people are saying he doesn't have a chronic lack of pace, which they are, then that validates my post.

'NBFL' but nowhere near good enough for LFC

He is just a shit footballer, and I'm happy to see the back of Benitez because it will mean the end of him in a Liverpool shirt as soon as a new manager comes in

He's even worse to watch than Brains, who at least would twat someone now and then

Who's Brains? Momo?
Momo was certainly more entertaining to watch than Lucas. But Momo was also very irritating at times.
Anyway, Lucas did have a good game last night, but I'd certainly rather see Mascherano than Lucas.

Regarding Insua, I think it's because there are those who see him as a player barely out of his teens learning his trade and holding his own in the Premiership and doing well and there are those who refuse to acknowledge that and judge him already as a finished article.

No, he's not quick by any stretch of the imagination, but he'll learn to play without blistering pace by improving his positioning and anticipation. His forward play is excellent and will improve as he gets more confidence.

Lucas is nowhere near as bad as some people make out. He's very unspectacular but can do everything competently and plays a team game. I think his strength is his character and I wait for the day when he wins the Liverpool faithful over. I reckon if he gets a couple of important goals, then perceptions will change.

I like you KopKing, you spout a lot of truths.

I may well have been, shall we say, a little too 'severe' in my battering of Insua over the last 24 hours. In retrospect (and because I've calmed down a bit after throwing cushions at the TV when he fucked up) he isn't as bad as I made out, and he is still young.

But he still has a chronic lack of pace !

There ya go. You were easy to point out his faults last night, and didn't care to mention the positives. It happens.

Oh. Dear. Where is this put down you're talking about?

Also, please talk me through the chronic lack of pace of the likes Ivanovic, Corluka, O'Shea and how they've managed to survive at top clubs.

For what it's worth Kuyt was easily the most frustrating Liverpool-player to watch last night.

Not Insua, whom despite some obvious flaws is a rather talented little leftback. He's young he'll get better and could actually still be at the club in 5-10 years times if everything goes well.

Not Lucas, whom despite his sometime extremely bad positioning as well as unremarkable style of play, more or less got the job done.

Kuyt couldn't control even the easiest of balls at times, and when he did he often ran directly into the nearest defender. And then once in a bluemoon he actually made a good run and good use of the ball. But overall as frustrating as they come.

I really hope for him and us that he'll get a prolonged break to restore his strengths. I'd probably play Babel on the left and Yossi on the right come Spurs if we're still missing Riera.

Insua's looked better in attack in the last two games, approaching last seasons level in fact.

Defensively he's still very suspect and the better teams will exploit it.
