Modo

A contentious scando

Reina 7 - Barely had anything to do.

Skrtle 6 - OK, didn't put a foot wrong, was lacking in attack.
Carra 4 - Cost us the game, his unnecessary hoofing didn't help either. Gets a low rating because of the result.
Agger 7 - Did well
Enrique 6 - Poor start but began attacking more in the 2nd half. Poor passing at times, but he hit a delicate pass to Hendo who missed....three times in a row.

Lucas 7 - Rock.
Adam 6 - Up and down, too many hollywood balls. Should look for the simple pass more often. Frustrated the shit out of Suarez.
Henderson - 4 - On par with Carra. Abysmal performance. Totally invisible, didn't do anything productive.
Downing 5 - No end product. Why oh why does Kenny insist on playing him on the right? He doesn't have a right foot.

Kuyt 6 - Worked hard but nothing worked so to speak.
Suarez 7 MOM - Again. Missed a sitter but was basically our only threat.

Subs:
Johnson n/a - looked rusty
Carroll 6 - Should have started
Bellamy 7 - Did well.

Pretty much, though a bit harsh on Downing. His right foot looked fine to me.

And maybe slightly generous on Lucas. He improved in the second half but was utter shite at the start.

Downing was villas best player last season playing mainly on the right and he also played extremely well on the right for the three lions in a few games .

Didn't work today and these ratings are based on today's performance, no offence.

definitely, hi right foot is cultured and whipped in some nice balls

but tell me, what the point of crossing the ball if we have no one in the box who can head it?

And if someone says kuyt they're just wrong

Yep, it annoys me when a commentator goes on how wonderful a cross is that goes straight across the six yard box with no one there. I'd prefer it to go to one of my players thanks.

Modo got it roughly right I reckon. Not going to argue over half points here and there. Looks like Charlie Adam is the new Lucas, polarizing fans like no other. He did some good, he did some bad.

Reina - 7 - Had fuck all to do but he looked solid throughout. He had no chance with the penalty.

Carragher - 4 - Another costly mistake.

Agger - 7 - Decent.

Enrique - 7 - Passing wasn't as tight as usual, but he played in some decent balls and was our best outlet throughout the match. He should be happy with himself.

Skrtel. - 6 - He did alright for someone filling in, but I cannot wait for Kelly or Johnson to come back.

Henderson - 4 - Offers nothing to our attacking play. Poor passing throughout. Wasted our best chance. Rightly substituted.

Downing - 6 - There were some decent deliveries, but he didn't offer enough throughout the match for me.

Adam - 5 - Very average performance.

Lucas - 8 (MOM) - He was our best player on the pitch. Strong in the tackle, nice link up play, kept us ticking over. More of the same next week please.

Suarez - 7 - Moaned a lot, but you cannot fault his attitude or work-rate on the pitch. Should have scored through.

Kuyt - 6 - Needs to offer more than this to justify his inclusion.

---------------

Bellamy - 7
Carroll - 6
Johnson - 5

The thing that irks me with Downing is that in these 4 games we've played in the premiership he hasn't produced anything of note.
No end product at all. I still have faith in him, but I just don't like the fact that he's playing on the right.
Sure he's meant to cut inside and shoot. But we all saw how that went during this game.

I'm absolutely sure that we'll win against Tottenham but, it just seems pointless now that we've lost three points against the mighty Stoke.

Adam was our worst player today, followed by Henderson.

Reina - 6 - Nothing to do, or would have been a higher score
Enrique -7 - Very decent link up play on the wings
Carra - 5 - Slow... Only a matter of time before he's dropped if he doesn't raise his game, its a shame
Agger - 6 - Mopped up well, average shot that could have cleared a roof in many a stadium
Skrtel - 6 - Offered little going forward, should have smashed through Luis from that corner.

Lucas - 7 - Probably our best player
Adam - 3 - Time and time again he gave the ball away. Hopefully it's out his system now
Henderson - 4 - How on earth did he miss that triple chance? Even I could have scored that... CHIP HIM YOU IDIOT!
Downing - 6 - Few glimpses, but not at his devastating best.
Kuyt - 5 - Average performance, few link ups with Suarez saves him from my wrath

Suarez - 7 - Played well, but lacked the killer instinct.

Adam was fucking infuriating. Someone needs to take him to one side and explain to him that he's not Zidane.

Henderson almost caused me to break the laptop.

I'm really not fussed at all with Adam. Play seems to slow right down when it goes through him. Come back Stevie G and soon

That's fucking ridiculous - he put in the best cross of the day when he made a yard for himself and put in a fantastic cross (one of a few) with his right foot. Fucking awful assessment Modo.

Reina - 6 (they only had 3 shots and of those only the penalty was on taget FFS).
Enrique -7
Carra - 4 - stupid stupid stupid - he had already got himslef goalside and Walters had his back to goal - WTF. At one time I started counting what Carra did when he got the ball (it was 5 hoofs, 3 back passes and 2 passes to other defenders, when I gave it up).
Agger - 7
Skrtel - 6
Lucas - 7
Adam - 3
Henderson - 4
Downing - 7
Kuyt - 5
Suarez - 7

One cross?! How many times did he stop and hesitate crossing with his right foot during the game?
How many times did he cut in and get a decent shot on goal. There's been ZERO end product from Downing. ZERO.
Maybe the "5" was a bit harsh but he would have done a lot more damage when Carroll came on if he'd played on the left. Thats my assessment.

Reina 6 - spectator for the most part. couldn't be faulted for Stoke's penalty.

Skrtel 6 - put in a solid shift out of position. helped contain Stoke's aerial bombardment...especially first half.

Carragher 4 - bad day at the office. gave away a stupid penalty and hoofed the ball aimlessly which just played into Stoke's hand. For such an experienced campaigner, he should really know better. Poor.

Agger 7 - strong performance. stood up to the physical stuff which was very pleasing. looks really fired up for it this season.

Enrique 6 - played pretty well. few sloppy passes here and there but he's a top player.

Henderson 5 - thought he was lively in spells but really should have scored. the lad has plenty of ability but i'm hoping he'll be more of a squad player when Gerrard returns.

Lucas 7 - our best player along with Agger. got stuck in and ran his nuts off. Gave the ball away a few times as he looked to force the issue so to speak but he's fast becoming one of our most important players.

Adam 4 - i'm an Adam fan but today he wasn't good. Tries the killer ball too often and against a tight defence like Stoke, it's very rarely going to come off.

Downing 6 - would liked to have seen more from him in terms of driving into the box and getting a few shots in but he wiped in some lovely crosses and was always an outlet.

Kuyt 5 - some nice link up play with Suarez on occasions but had a quiet afternoon on the whole. Not at his best.

Suarez 6 - constantly on the move and always a threat but needs to be more assured and clinical in front of goal. That's the only criticism we can have of the wee man.

Subs:

Bellamy 7 - a livewire from the second he came on. full of running and energy.

Carroll 4 - did fuck all.

Johnson 4 - looks a stone overweight. let Jones have a free run past him towards the end of the game.

On the subject of Adam, surely Kenny would have told him to cut out the fancy passes if he wanted him to?
[/quote]
The King isn't infallible.
Seriously though, I think Adam's got a big head and don't mean literally (though he does).
He should just listen to Suarez and keep the ball on the ground. He's no Xabi. As soon as he realizes that he'll improve.
Should give him the benefit of the doubt though. It's a difficult transition for some I guess. From constantly having the spotlight in Blackpool to being a novice in Liverpool.

What's wrong with your fucking eyes ? Go back and read what I said .... one of a few ! He had a good game, pity others didn't take advantage.

He's being harsh on Downing but the reality is that you know if you are defending him coming down the right that he's going to cut in. He made crosses with his instep instead of hitting it with his right. I can understand the logic given Stoke's size to some extent, but once it wasn't working, why not make the shift?
