Rafa Benitez “Hopefully Mike Ashley can keep his word…”

Rafa Benitez has delivered a powerful message to Mike Ashley when asked about what fans can expect with further transfers this summer

Newcastle fans have been waiting for Rafa Benitez to give an update/indication on how he believes the transfer window will develop for Newcastle United.
The manager has now given a brief update from the training camp in Ireland and referred back to his meeting with Mike Ashley, in the aftermath of the title win in the Championship.

Asked about a message for supporters, Rafa has indicated that he believes ‘everything is in place to move forward’.

The Newcastle manager saying that after his meeting with the club’s owner in May, he was ‘confident that after that meeting we have the money available and the wages’ for the necessary new signings.
The real punchline though was Rafa Benitez adding ‘Hopefully, Mike Ashley can keep his word and we can do what we want to do’.
Not a lot of word but a very powerful message delivered by Rafa, leaving nobody in doubt as to what will be at the root of the problem, if like January the club once again fail to bring in signings he has identified.

Rafa Benitez talking to the Chronicle:

“We are working very hard and trying to get as close as possible to some signings.
“When I had the meeting with Mike Ashley (in May) I was confident that after that meeting we have the money available and the wages.
“Everything is in place to move forward.
“Hopefully, Mike Ashley can keep his word and we can do what we want to do.”

Rumours about Rafa asking for specific players but due to the market being as it is Ashley is trying to convince him to sign cheaper alternatives.
Fans worried that Rafa will quit the team.

I do hope that we do the charitable thing and help to solve this problem for all concerned.

We have Moreno and Origi who can just as much claim to have been born to be signed by Benitez.

Imagine being a billionaire and having a passive aggressive weirdo ex Chelsea manager member of staff giving you shit through the press.

I haven't read the original post, but is Rafa fucking moaning about funds again? Christ.

Ashley just has to make the funds available. He's not the one identifying targets and negotiating fees.

There's no evidence he isn't doing the former this time, even if he is a fat lying sack of shit as a rule
