Where dis?

I believe they might be referring to the article Hansern posted where Jose waxes lyrical about how great we are and how unappealing Chelsea is, as evidence that Mourinho would prefer the history and culture of Liverpool to the vast wealth of Citeh.

Y'know, the comments he made shortly before he took over at Chelsea and spent upwards of £140m in one transfer window.

Word is bond, man.

Tuttosport today claims that Rafa has made up his mind and is going to join Juventus. The quote is a bit dodgy but there you go. Moreover Juve are in talks with Palermo about Simon Kjaer but the problem is that Kjaer has a € 12 million buy-out clause which is only valid for transfers abroad. They are in talks about a fee but naturally Palermo are keen on selling him quickly to Juve because they would get more cash for him.

So if we really want to sign Kjaer we should act very quickly.

Woo! Reserved celebrations, mind, if he does go. I just think it's worth a punt on a new manager and new ideas, rather than stagnating as we are under Rafa. It could well come back to haunt us, but nothing ventured nothing gained.

No celebrations; its something that needs to be done..but seeing a Liverpool manager try his best and fail is never a good thing.

I'm just celebrating that it looks like a much needed change is happening. I like Rafa himself, but this year is tarnishing his legacy, and I'll be sad that he failed. I believed, once.

Rafa coy on future talk
Benitez waits on Liverpool's new owners
By Simone Bargellini Last updated: 23rd April 2010

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is remaining tight-lipped on talk linking him with a switch to Juventus.

Widespread reports in Italy claim Juve have made Benitez their top target to take over from interim boss Alberto Zaccheroni this summer.

It has been suggested Juventus are prepared to offer Benitez a lucrative contract and hefty transfer war chest to lure him to Turin.

Reports circulating have also claimed Juventus are now working on recruiting Benitez's backroom team if he does decide to leave Anfield.

Benitez insists he is not thinking about his future and is waiting to see who will buy Liverpool after American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett put the club up for sale last week.

The Spaniard admits Liverpool's search for new owners could decide his future on Merseyside.

Benitez told Premium Calcio: "The future? I just think about the next week, only of the sale of the club.

"I'm interested in who buys Liverpool.

"Resignation? I will have to wait for next week. I will talk to who will buy the club. We must wait."

if the owners are still in place over the summer and during the transfer window I think rafa is definately off. probably thinking 'fuck this bullshit'

I think he's off, judging by what I'm reading in this thread and depending on how reliable those Italian papers are.

I just hope it's done quickly so the new man can come in and sort out the shite in the squad.

[/quote]YEAH FUCK THIS BULLSHIT!
I've taken over the guts of a champions league winning side, and slaves away for a mere 5m a year bringing in players of the calibre of Lucas, Nunez, Gonzalez, Sissoko, Morientes whilst clearing out your Owen and Hyppia type of rubbish. I've got rid of all those failing local youths like your warnocks and that and replaced them with proper players like ngog and insua. I've revolutionised our training and that so players nearly never get injured. I've won trophies ok so non for 5 years, but look at the barca/arsenal hybrid football we now play.
I've done all this and it's cost less than 200m and what thanks do I get? I mean apart from the 5m a year and total control over the whole footballing side of things? Nothing that's what! Fuck this shit!

That last line is bizarre. Is he suggesting the new owners will be unveiled next week, or is this a garbled transcription of what he actually said?

It's probably the latter.

It has been stated though that we'll have new owners in by June, so i wonder how much in advance the likes of Rafa & Co would find out?

Juventus days away from handing Liverpool boss Benitez an offer he cannot refuse

Rafa Benitez is moving ever closer to quitting Liverpool for Juventus. He is bracing himself for an offer the Italians believe he simply can no longer refuse — and it is expected this week.

A Juventus source confirmed from Turin last night that club president Jean-Claude Blanc will try to force the issue over the next few days in a second meeting between the club and Benitez’s agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon.

They believe the offer is so generous that it confirms their faith in his reputation and so must persuade him to quit the political in-fighting and financial uncertainty of life on Merseyside for the riches and free rein to manage as he wants in Serie A.

Juve have put together a package which would make Benitez, 50, one of the richest and most expensive managerial appointments in football.

It will be worth £15million net in basic salary over three years and acknowledges the need for the payment of a big signing-on fee as part compensation for the £16million remaining in his Liverpool contract.

Benitez will be offered the right to bring in his own assistant manager/coach and other technical staff. And he will be given an assurance that virtually unlimited funds will be available to bring the world’s best footballers to Turin, in an all-or-nothing bid to re-establish the club as Italy’s most powerful.

That alone will run to hundreds of millions, with Liverpool’s Fernando Torres — rated by good judges the world’s best striker — in their sights. Blanc is orchestrating the negotiations conducted with Quilon, which began after Liverpool’s Premier League win against West Ham last Monday.

These meetings were to assess the requirements of Benitez and determine how much is needed financially to seal a deal. The intention is to have Benitez well in place to plan the club’s campaign for next season.

Poor the Juve.

innit. Useless fucking manager. Shite scouts. Rubbish backroom team and a top striker who can only play about half a season. All for a cool 100m.
Diamond.

The thing is, I'm sure their 100m wouldn't bring them Torres, because much as I'm sure he knows Rafa has made him a better player, and he has, he wouldn't play for Rafa again, and I'm sure will be glad to see him leave.
