It's funny. Most people are so desperate for Rafa to leave that no one has even mentioned how devious and underhanded these negotiations with Juve are. Can you imagine if we were desperate for him to stay? We'd be mortified by this kind of behaviour.
I'm one of the last on here that actually seems to genuinely like the man, while acknowledging his failings, and if half of what is being reported is going on, unless an attempt to leverage the last bits of his power to get the support he deserved last summer, it'll just be another intrusion of sensible business into something I'd prefer to not think of in that way constantly.
Sometimes you post thing that I just don't understand. This is one such occassion.
I had to read it twice, too. Bloody creative writers.
I've read it three times and still have no idea what it means.

FWIW if I were one of Rafa's loyal, name-chanting supporters, I'd feel pretty fucking shocked and betrayed by his behaviour. But I'm not, so will just be relieved to get rid of him without paying out £16m.
If we manage to get rid of Rafa at a profit, it'll be one of the best bits of business the owners have done since they arrived.
I still want to see what rafa can do with 'proper' money i.e. not having to sell anyone but still having a decent kitty, and a drama free board. if rafa fucks up then fuck him off. seriously, what is ONE SEASON in the grand scheme of things?
He's had six. And in four and a half of those he's spent lavishly. Another season like this one could see us consigned to our current position indefinitely.
[Yadda Yadda Yadda. Same old tired apologist bullshit]
Net spend comparisons simply don't bear that out, I'm afraid. He's had plenty.
Your insistance on repeating this proper money mantra ad nausiem doesn't in any way detract from the fact Rafa has spent towards 250m gross and 100m net in 6 years and has developed a team that can't beat Birmingham, Wigan, Stoke, Portsmouth, Reading, Fulham etc.
Babel 11m
keane 20m
torres 20m
Aquilani 18m
Mascherano 18m
Kuyt 11m
Alonso 11m
etc etc etc etc and all the shitty 5m flops and all the shitty 2m rubbish kids.
Just please give it a rest.
who saying he hasn't spent money? I'm saying he has had to sell partially fund those players.
look at the players gh left rafa, look at all the players rafa has purchased in all his time now now imagine if it was his choice who he offloaded because sales weren't necessary to offset purchases. the likes of bellemy etc might possibly still be here.
Ooooo just imagine. We might be failing to beat United, Spurs, Villa, City and Arsenal instead of Wigan, Portsmouth and Stoke.
He's been here 6 years and regardless of how much he has had to spend he is a out to manage a team to 7th place whoopie.
Still give him proper money (that we don't have) again next season and we'll fly.
If a manager can ONLY succeed by throwing money at the team he isn't a very good manager.
Top spenders in Italy? Juventus
league winners last 2 years? Inter
Top spenders in Spain? Madrid
league winners last 2 years? Barcelona
Top spenders in France? Lyon
league winners? Marseille
Top spenders in England City and Chelsea
legue winners for 3 years?
Oh you know the rest.
Rafa isn't working. Fact.

Truly priceless.... you want the cunt to fuck off but call him a traitor for doing so.... its just brilliant in its way. I wonder what enticing offer the owners will make to our incoming manager??

Well pilgrim we'll give you half of the proceeds from selling Torres, but nothing next year or the next at least not until we've built a stadium in 2018 and the interests payments are OK....you should make sure the team pays for that in whatever way, winning selling winning selling again.... Ignore the shit we throw at you though, truth is we don't really know or care much about football nor if you win anything as long as the bills our loan interest paid.... but the fans are a bit feisty and desperate for success so just make sure we win the league title.

I'm sure Mourinho is already scouring the wirral for properties.

Beggars belief.

I thought that was obvious, it was a good post imo.

I can't think of any other Premier League club, however cash-strapped, that started this season with only one competent striker. It was perfectly obvious from the start of the season that we were going to struggle when Torres was unavailable. I think that spoils Rafa's reputation for strategic planning.

The simple fact is, nobody who wants Mourinho here can be appalled at Rafa's behaviour.

I can't blame Benitez for leaving. He has been pushed to the limit by these owners, but the clubs also been pushed to the limit by his mistakes and tactics.

In short, it's probably best for both parties if Benitez were to find a new club. I think he could dominate Italian football with the reported budgets he's being offered and the more tactical, slow style of football.

I would never say he failed in England, I think that's pretty harsh. But he isn't going to win us the league any time soon, because he refuses to learn from his mistakes and is overly cautious, so someone else should be given the opportunity.

There are a number of people on this site who could make a *respectable* argument as to why Rafa should stay. You're not one of them.

rafa has been here five (soon to be 6 full seasons) in which time he has spent a lot of money admitedly but half of the money was recouped (to fund further purchases) and every season rafa has been here we have been in the CL recouping more money for purchases. so in essense rafa has almost entirely funded all his purchases. I'm sorry but that isn't being bank rolled or supported by the board. fair enough some of rafa's choices on the pitch have been 'dubious' but I', not having it the board have given him loads of money, beyond CL money and money derived from sales the board have given rafa next to money.

that's good because you're not making a *respectable* arguement to me why he should be sacked.

I've got to the point where i just want it all to be resolved one way or the other. I'd like him to be in charge next season, but i can accept the reasons why many don't.

I am surprised that quite a few on here seem to be of the opinion that they want Rafa out regardless of who might be his replacement. Taking everything into account though, i'm personally excited about what might happen at our club this summer, but scared shitless at the same time.

Onwards and upwards i guess!

I would be more comfortable with all this talk of Rafa leaving if I knew the identity of his replacement.

valid reasons I accept for rafa being removed

1) 6 seasons on he is still too a cautious away from home.
this is fair critisism, you only get one more point for a draw than a loss. going for the win even though you may end up with nothing if caught on the counter attack makes more sense then holding out for a draw.

2) not enough freedom given to the team to express themselves
'usually' this means we are very difficult to break down but this also makes us predictable and more and more teams are escaping anfield with a point because we don't have the creativity and fluidity to break down these stubborn defenses.

the above adds up to lots and lots of draws when being more adventurous would see us with more win. this is a valid critisism and concern. the money in my opinion is not, rafa has recouped too much in sales and made too much money from reaching at least the knock out phase in the CL to claim the owners have given him sufficient money to challenge. this is only my opinion, if you don't like it or agree, fine!

I don't think anyone wants Rafa out regardless of who replaces him.

I just have faith in Purslow, Dalglish and Ayre(?) selecting the right candidate for the job. I think our club needs common sense, a fresh approach and the ability the spend wisely.

The incoming manager doesn't have to have won x amount of trophies, IMO, although obviously it would be nice. The fact that we're not going to get a manager of Rafa's prestiege does not mean we should stick with the man, because the fact that he's won La Liga means absolutely nothing to us right now. What does is the majority of Liverpool fans cannot imagine him winning the Premiership with him in charge.

Well in summary, most people on here believe he is and want him to go. Some people think he won't and don't want him to go. But people are contesting that this is not a valid poll as 6CM is too militant.
