Progress?

We'll be back to square one when Suarez fucks off.

I think he stays for next year, so the summer becomes our most important summer since the last time we had the opportunity to move the club forward it and fucked ourselves ... So basically, the last 20 odd summers! 😉

If we can finish top 4 and attract another talent like him, I can see him staying here another 4-5 years.

Even him we make top 4, I fear loosing him, he is that good.

Can see a PSG/Madrid offering silly money (£50+ million plus for him), at the kinda money can see the club selling.

Once we qualify for Europe, I believe he'll stay ... but if we get 60+ million - it would really put us in a pickle. Oh well, let's wait till we qualify for the CL next year before worrying about this! 😉

The rate if progress has to be balanced by the fact that the average age of the team has been reduced.

Out go Kuyt, Bellamy & Maxi - in come Sturridge, Coutinho & Sterling.

I don't think you can say with any certainty that we would have progressed significantly more or faster under Dalglish & Clarke because their whole season together gave us less points that the season they took over from Roy.

It's all ifs, buts & maybes.

Oh and we'd still have Fatty McFat in the middle of the pitch playing Hollywood balls.

The Adam case is actually quite pertinent: whatever you think of his ability, he was a 'man,' as Rodgers defines it, bossing Blackpool for a couple of seasons, driving them on against much better teams, even scaring the mancs at times with his leadership and attacking power. Then he comes here and looks a bit of a clumsy drip. It just shows you can't just look around and think someone who fits the bill somewhere else will just bring it here. It's more of a mental thing.

Progress from our most disgracefully awful season (in the league) in years, but then that shouldn't have been hard.

We were wonderful today though, let's hope it continues. Also, with that first XI, he's really got no excuses. It's packed with quality, and plenty of decent backup on the bench. This squad should be totting up 70 points plus next season, that's the standard Rodgers has to be measured against.

I wouldn't go that far.

We have two really world class players in our staring 11 - Suarez and Gerrard.

Most of the others are very good players but not as consistent/reliable as they should be.

Then there's a few who you'd look at think 'we can do better' - doesn't mean they're shit by any means but you have to be honest.

Our interplay in the final third is getting better and better. Hopefully we can start performing in similar fashion, or close to it, against teams that put us under much more pressure with their pressing.

Once again, doing well against an under-strength team is going to send the nut-o-meter into overdrive.
This season we have beaten the teams we should beat bye and large with the odd exception and thats something that hasnt happened in decades.

There was little difference in today's performance from Monday's performance - Stevie misses a penalty in one, and we lose on two late goals. Stevie hits one in another and we crush a team, as we should have done in our last 3 games. Part and parcel of a team that doesn't have many leaders (Carra? Suarez?) and still struggles with confidence issues.
You could see after peno he knows the miss last week cost us 3 points.

We were shit the other night, regardless of 'dominance', we never really looked like scoring, and even the penaly award was lucky. We were great today.
Did your stream die as Gerrard lined up a volley from 10 yards with the entire goal at his mercy?

And despite the valiant displays against Arsenal and City the mentalists couldn't wait to drive the knife home after the West Brom result, could they?

But then some have wanted him to fail from the start and probably cheer every negative result with glee.

I mean proving themselves right on an internet message board is what being a real Liverpool fan is about isn't it?

Was yesterday our 1st win against a team in top 10 / higher than us in the table this season?

Well obv there's a difference between 'world class' and 'quality'. I'd agree with you on the world class thing, but IMO the 'quality' players are:

Reina
Johnson
Agger
Skrtel
Lucas
Allen
Henderson
Coutinho
Sturridge

...and Enrique is a championship player.

In my opinion it is not what we do with the ball in the final third thats the biggest worry. It is what we do when we have it on our half, or even worse when dont have it. We seem to want to go through presslevels by short passing across the field. This is high risk because the team is unbalanced when we loose it, and we often do at our half. People say we are weak when others counter attack us, but we make ourselves to vulnerable to often. So often the dm or the cds are easily overplayed due to high risk passing on our own territory. At their third we have to take that risk, and we seem to have a good group of players involved there, at least they made it look comfortable in the weekend.

Most of them you've listed are top players on their day mate but prone to inconsistency, that's what i'm getting at.

Ok, you can't expect them to play well every single game and the best players have their bad games but difference is their bad days don' come around too often. Whereas you look at the likes of Johnson, Agger and Lucas and are disappointed they don't perform consistently well(imo).

Btw, i don't think Allen and Henderson have done enough to suggest they're 'quality'.

However, our team and squad does have lots going for it. It's just a matter of getting them to perform consistently, not blow hot and cold.

I just realised that I've never seen so many technically gifted players in a Liverpool side ever.

I grew up watching the team from the late eighties and onwards and since then we've basically had one or maybe two dribblers in the team. Barnes, McManaman, Garcia etc.
Now suddenly we have Suarez, Sturridge, Suso, Sterling, Coutinho and Assaidi in the squad. Possibly Johnson as well.

This might not count as progress but it should add to entertainment value.
I personally love it.

I'd love for you to explain what you mean by "technically gifted" in that case.
