[article]The Premier League will announce details of the 2015/16 fixture calendar on Wednesday 17 June.

The season will kick off on 8 August, a week earlier than in 2014/15, and is scheduled to end on 15 May 2016.

The move should allow Roy Hodgson more time to prepare next summer's European Championships, which kick off in France on June 10.[/article]

Any guesses for our opening day fixture?

We've requested to start away due to the stadium work. So I guess we'll get Stoke.
Oh the joy.
Months of build up from the players..."we are out for revenge"... "we need to make it up to the fans" .
And then the dramatic Liverpool style come down once we get beat 3-1.....

Whoever it is, we'll have to show great character to beat them.

With young Coutinho.

With his pressing and his character and his technique.
We'll have to show great concentration.

How do you even do that?

Will the players be fighting for their lives while missing a wee bit of luck in front of goal?

We'll have to show great concentration.

How do you even do that?

With the Copa America ending in early July, and the new season's earlier start, I think Coutinho will probably not start in at least the first league game, assuming Brazil don't get knocked out too early. Ings and Can play in the UEFA U21 Championships which run till the end of this month, so I think they might also join the squad later and sit out the starting game as well.

And who do the insiders predict for the first game?

James Pearce, son of a Wurzel and current LFC correspondent for the Echo:

I know of all the rumours but I can neither confirm nor deny any of them. And that comes from the horse's mouth. I predict a match against one of the other teams. We could win, or we could lose, but I would certainly not, at this point, rule out a draw.

Ex-'Super Sub' and legendary worryguts, David 'Davey' Fairclough:

Who will we play? I don't know, but I'm worried about it. Very worried. Maybe it's best to get the first game out the way first, but then you're still facing all those other games, one by one. It's going to be a long, long, season, and I'm worried about it. Very worried.

The Echo's resident bluenose and history buff, Dave Prentice:

It's an interesting one, this. I've been doing some research, actually, and it's quite interesting. Liverpool have never, ever, played their first match of the season after their second match. That's going all the way back to 1892, when the average waist measurement for players was 34. Not even the notorious 1919-20 season, when one Saturday was misprinted as 'Sunday' in the Pink, undermined this fact. The first game thing, not the waist thing. And there's usually been an 'a' or an 'e' or an 'i' in the name of the opponent. Or some combination of the two or three of those letters. That's again going all the way back to 1892. And [cont. in lonely isolation elsewhere]

Legendary shouty man Jamie Carragher:

No idea, [sucks in loads of air very loudly] but I know it'll be reported first on Sky, of course. Look, I can't say who we'll be playing first, but [sucks in another load of air very loudly] whoever it is, I think it's probably too soon. That's my opinion. [Sucks in loads more air very loudly] I'd rather it was someone else.

Former LFC 'Mr Versatile' and legendary thicko, Steve Nicol:

Is this a trick question? How can I know who we'll play before it's been announced? Is this a trick question? If so, I'll say Norwich. Just to cover meself.

Liverpool legend and acclaimed ale-supper John 'Aldo' Aldridge:

'Whether it’s in Liverpool when I’m having a pint or elsewhere, people are coming up to me saying: “Aldo, what’s going on” and I just have to tell them that I don’t know'.

We've requested to start away due to the stadium work. So I guess we'll get Stoke.

Arsenal's first 10 fixtures; #afc only play 2 of last season's top 6 in opening 3 months.

Bournemouth's final 8 opponents include Spurs, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Everton & Manchester United (plus Swansea just before)

Thinking positively, the Stoke game is a great opportunity to put the 6-1 behind us at the earliest opportunity. It's not a bad start (perhaps no bad thing to go to Arsenal and Utd early in the season) and if we're still interested we've got a fantastic run-in.

Didn't think Sky had a say in the fixtures but @GNev2 must have been involved in picking Liverpool's first 7 away games.

- Stoke
- Arsenal
- Man Utd
- Everton
- Spurs
- Chelsea
- Man City

Rodger's successor should be thankful for having kinder fixtures to manage? 😛

Ouch.. Ouch!!!!

Fucking Ouch!!!

Everton and Spurs are probably the only fixtures I can see us getting anything from..
