We were challenging for everything just 6 months ago. You don't change all the midfielders, or even remove one of the mainstay over the summer. It's all hindsight. The midfielders all had a blip in their performances, arguably all of them, that much is clear. Whether it is short term or permanent, the coaching staff needs to know and adjust accordingly. We can't continue to stick to playing an expansive football when we know our midfielders don't have the legs for it. It's about playing it smart now instead of being stubborn with our approach. If we had lost to City, which was highly probable, it would have been a long hard road back. Now we have something to be optimistic about, let's hope Klopp and co can make the most pragmatic decisions to get us in a good stead when we hit Jan at least.
If they insist on letting Trent deal with 2 forwards on his own, we will be back to square 1.
