Pre Match Pre Match - PSG (H) - Tues 20:00

I think it's vital we have a decent ref that allows us to be physical at home.

PSG have some tricky players, and at their ground, I don't think we were able to get near them. Kvara was able to get a few soft FKs. If that's at Anfield, maybe the ref isn't blowing up and we're now going at them on the counter attack and they're now having to expend more energy running back (and less attacking us).

These be the margins. It's why I expect us to start fast and strong. Hopefully we get a goal or two in the first 25mins.

Not sure if Darwin can be trusted, but we kind of need him to put in another Real Madrid performance to occupy their 2 CBs.
The ref has given us nothing.

That said, we've missed some big chances early on and we're not winning 1 v 1 battles up front (again) and therefore need to overload their defence to create chances but the final pass/touch has been poor.

It also leaves us wide open on the counter. Especially when Salah, TAA, Diaz and Jota aren't taking care of the ball all that well.

Midfield is piss poor again, so dragged out of shape and sloppy, all the issues that were there in the first leg are still there. We're winning it back and overplaying and running into trouble, there's a massive hole in the middle of the park.

I think both teams are getting what they want, and we haven't done enough with the positions.

The fact that Diaz is inconsistent, jota isn't finishing, and Salah is off form is too much. One of them has to step up or we need to get something from spinning the wheel of Nunez.

Disappointed. I don't like that at all. 442 with Nunez instead of Jota would have been much preferred. Now I'm nervous because I can see us giving up midfield again.
Yeah I'm sticking with this. Though TBF we could have been a couple up before they scored had Salah been able to hit the target.

If we had pace around him maybe he'd find the pass, but that counter with Salah having nowhere to go is exactly why you can evolve all you want but being slower makes you worse at football.

I do think Jota is done at the top level for us. What's the point of running and pressing if you're too weak to capitalise

He'll be a fine poacher still, but we don't really play that way

The problem with jota is he isn't a fine poacher until a few games after an injury, and he gets injured a lot.

I'm not too bothered about Mo. having a tough time against Mendes - most wingers lose the majority of their 1 on 1s, what's more concerning is him not hitting the target - he could and should have scored before we went behind. That said I think he'll have some joy - he's due a goal now and PSG are giving him time and space on occasion.

We kind of need Nunez on. His pace in behind might actually push their backline back. And allow Salah to make passes in behind, because he sure as hell isn't beating Mendes for pace or strength.

I thought Slot would have gone 4 in middle but started same team. Suprised and Jota looks knackered, needs to do more and Salah needs to try beat his man. Mendes is strong and fast, not always related to a slow Salah. Without him, we don’t have direct pace. Bringing in Nunez may help with that.

For someone in the running for best player in the world, it kinda is. Especially when it happens twice in one week.

A) Ramadan
B) he was poor psg and vs soton. So 3 games in 6 days ... which isn't surprising based on point a and the fact he's having a slight downturn in form recently ... he'll pick up again (starting 2nd half)

Midfield wank once again.
Need to up their game or we're going out tonight.

Jota and Diaz need to do better as well. If no joy from them by 60 mins, we should get Gakpo and Nunez on for them.

And fucking test their shite GK...he's absolute wank

Thought it was a balanced game. Two top teams balancing each other out. Yeh we need more cutting edge but they’ve hardly carved us open again and again. Cooks easily go either way. Cody will make a big difference. Maybe even Nunez

Love how the commentary are saying we have it all to do. It’s 1-1.
