Spirits are high among Liverpool's players as they go through a series of running and stretching drills to start of this training session.

Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai share a couple of smiles while doing their stretches.

Cody Gakpo, who missed Saturday's win over Southampton, is among those in the session.

Leaders’ slow start shows league’s strength

Arne Slot is confident the energy levels that dropped in the first half against Southampton will not be an issue when Liverpool face Paris Saint-Germain at a fired-up Anfield on Tuesday. The head coach said that, with hindsight, he “would have started differently” against the Premier League’s bottom club given the exertions of the midweek victory in Paris. But such are the demands of winning a Premier League title. Slot retained eight of the team that started at Parc des Princes while Luis Enrique rested eight for PSG’s 4-1 win at Rennes. Andy Robertson got to the heart of the issue. “The [Premier] League is more competitive – that’s no disrespect to the French league,” he said. “That’s two games now we have struggled against Southampton who are bottom of the league. You can’t take any team lightly.” Andy Hunter

I'd start Núñez.

He's in better form and offers the best option for getting in behind and competing with their centre-backs.

I'd be fine with an extra midfielder too, but Szoboszlai needs to contribute in attacking areas and win battles against their defenders. We can't just rely on Salah to do everything. He was completely marked out of the game.

Why isn't Ibou doing the press conference?
Are we protecting him from the French press?
Or did he just say too much last time around...😅

Interesting shot chart - but it does show you that most of PSGs shot were indeed speculative. Isnt a single shot closer than 12 yards. Makes you think that our defense had them under control more than most of you are willing to acknowledge.

we were blessed. They had some good chances they fluffed. And that VAR goal. Don’t be pedaling that long shot nonsense lads. We were outplayed for probably the first time this season. It’s a concern for Tuesdays match.

-----------------Alisson------------------
-Trent-----Konate---VVD-----Robertson
-----------------Endo--------------------
----------Gravy--------Macca-----------
-Salah----------Szobo---------Gapko---

I'm half tempted to play Elliott to provide extra attacking impetus on our right and give Salah more support, but I'm guessing that job will fall to Szobo, there's also a case for Nunez but we never know what we will get with him, he could be the brute force they struggled with last week, or he could be a non-entity running around like a headless chicken and probably getting booked. We need counterattacking quality with pace, but we also need some level of control, so it's a tough one to call. Even Endo, he might give us some bite and cover a bit for Gravy who is clearly out of sorts, on the other hand he's liable to give away 10 freekicks on the edge of the box. So who the fuck knows.

IS Gakpo match fit?

I'd start with the team that finished against them on Wednesday. Genuinely think that would give them the fear. They controlled pretty much all of that game until the subs, so start that side and watch them buckle.

That's not what will happen, but it's what I'd do.

I agree PSG will be disoriented to see Nunez and Harvey starting, but then I think Darwin with his high energy press as usual is most effective when he comes in late

Came in to say the exact same thing.

Fucking nomarks be talking down on us like we aren't good enough to be in the competition.
Need to fuck them up properly tonight to show them why we're 6 times champions and they've only reached the final once

Aye, I can genuinely see this as a cumulative thrashing (so 3/4-0 tonight) of an inexperienced / over-inflated young PSG side….presuming we score first!
If we get one in the first 15 minutes I can see us hitting them for 6!

One thing is that there's no doubt Anfield will be fucking electric and intense. All the fans watched through 85 minutes of hell in the away leg and they'll be under no illusion how tough this tie and their role in supporting the team though. Had we been at home first, I think most would have been surprised at how fucking good PSG were and a little bit in shock. Nobody is watching Lique 1 regularly, or take it that seriously.

This really could go any way tonight. Heart says we will buttfuck them and they will leave Anfield dazed and confused about what just happened.

Head says nail biting close encounter with goals for both teams.

The great thing is that even if the worst was to happen and we get hammered, I won't care a jot. A quick look at the league table will remove any disappointment.
