Ok, this is a bit uncharacteristic of me, but I feel like I should give Ox a chance. I mean it's his first game being fully fit with a good pre season. I just saw a replay of it and he looked so dejected when he was subbed. He knew he had a bad game.
However, Ox is only going to learn to play in that position by actually playing in that position and he isn't going to get too many opportunities to do that at LFC.
Maybe he himself needs to realise this.

I've seen enough. I'm not gonna lie and say that I thought that Ox would be one of the more prominent players on the pitch before the game.
I was expecting another poor performance and he duly delivered.
What happened?
Klopp spoke very highly of him during the summer and deservedly so because he looked confident, full of energy and ready to stake a claim for a spot in the team.
We kept him even though we probably could have sold him, which means that the training staff had faith in him, but where does he stand now?
He's behind at least 7 other players in the pecking order. I've never seen him this bad and I'm seriously wondering if he's even good enough to play in the PL.
It's been four years since we signed him and I'm still wondering what his position is?
We've tried to play him as a CM, a false 9, AM and on the wing and nothing is working.
Is it confidence?
He tries, I'll give him that, I mean he works hard, but it's not looking good at all. Everything is failing him at the moment, especially his ball control, passing and awareness. He looks lost most of the time.
Like I said before, he needs games and he's not gonna get them here. He should move on for the sake of his own career.

I like Ox, he seems like a very nice lad and a great person to have in the locker room but we need more from £35 million player.
Unless something drastic happens, this might be his last season at Liverpool.

I agree, I'm only talking about his crossing. He wasn't that good defensively today.
For real - That's what I mean too. Robbo brings a hell of lot more to the party and is probably up with my favourites in the squad. Fair play to Tsimikas though - He's proven he's no make-weight. Good on him and LFC and the scouts. How much did he cost again? Not much. Doubled in value easily I'll bet.

Completely agree and I have always liked him, but....he is a liability.

He gives the ball away so consistently, it should become the opposition strategy to wait for him to pass it to them.

I watched the 2nd half - I think Ox was trying although a bit lost at times. But have to ask - I heard Klopp at the end give his interview - did I hear him right ? - he said Nabby got injured because of the grass or something ? - and he had to take him off as a precaution. What the fuck does that mean ?

Tyler Morton is a very good prospect. Liked his energy and enthusiasm

He usually plays further forward for the youth sides, right? That’s good sign - a lot of top #6’s started as box-to-box, it means there is something extra there compared to the Jay Spearings of the world.

He kicked the grass and felt something, taken off as a precaution. Which probably means he’ll be like a new signing once the 12-week recovery and rehabilitation period ends.

We're about 1/8th of the season through, no one's leaving till Jan.
I'm going try my best not to hate on Ox.
He has had terrible luck with injuries, and it's now effected him physically and psychologically. Our squad depth meant we couldn't loan him out, our finances meant we couldn't buy anyone as an alternative.
We won, mini and Div have done an immense job of improving their rep.

You know that you could easly be talking about Origi here. Yes people will defend him becuase he scored, but apart from the goal he did very little. But a side from that, I totally agree with your assessment of the Ox

It's affected. And you're simply making statements that don't seem to have any basis in fact. The coaching and fitness team assert he's back to full fitness and I haven't seen any signs that he's been affected psychologically. He seems to be the same player as previously - simply just not good enough and one we should have passed on.

Does seem like a very good lad ... but that's just not enough.

Origi is an enigma. Last season he looked like he coudn't give two fucks. Now suddenly he's running, tracking back and scoring goals again. Like WTF happened?
This Origi I'm OK with.

Yeah, he's looked better for sure.

Hopefully he can keep it up. We need options.

Without Firmino in the picture (for now) he can see he'll get games, especially coming on as a sub whereas previously it was Bobby+Jota.

Nothing, he's still shit...he's scored 1 goal Modo.
Where did I say that he suddenly turned into Torres? He's looked good in the last two games I've seen him play. 1 assist and 1 goal.
I hope he keeps it up is all I'm saying.

He's a write off Modo, how long has he been here.

I guess some players are affected by the uncertainty of the pandemic, playing without crowds etc more than others - you could also add Mane and Firmino to that list. Origi seems like the type that can easily get downcast or unmotivated when things all around are bleak or uncertain - now he seems back to normal and yeah - this version of Origi I’m OK with as well.

This version of Origi is great.

Somebody might give us more than a packet of digestive biscuits for him at the end of the season.

We’d be lucky to get the empty packet fir OX at the minute.

If Origi gets us to the league cup final, FA cup final and plays the last 2 CL group stage games after 12 pts then happy days.

Must have watched a different game. With all the changes, we were still pretty dominant and never looked like a makeshift side. It was a really good professional team performance and everyone contributed.

Ox worked his socks off in all areas of the pitch, ran down too many blind alleys at times but was always involved. He wasn't fucking shit at all that's bollocks.

Conor Bradley improved as the game went on and was tidy, determined and competitive. Gordon has a touch of class about him, silky movement with the ball and an eye for the killer pass.

Starting to really like Kostas, he's tough and gets stuck in but he's also a real threat going forward. Arrives late and his crossing and set pieces are top class. Robbo was actually sloppy when he came on.

Stand out player was Minamino. Two clever finishes and skillful on the ball throughout. Very promising.

Origi also showing glimpses of his best form and he scores goals, his record is very good.

All in all that was good, we do have some quality in depth and some genuinely interesting prospects with the youngsters.

I have been one of his harshest critics of late, and especially last night (calling him 'utter utter shite' for the first half). So I thought I'd check a dozen other 'ratings sites' to see if I was alone in that opinion. I wasn't. On a night when nearly everyone scored 7 or higher he was frequently ranked our worst performer.

Ratings : 6 (2nd lowest), 6 (lowest), 7 (equal lowest), 6 (lowest - The Echo), 5 (lowest - TIA), 5 (lowest - RTK), 7* (see comments below - they added 1 for an assist, from a mile out), 6 (equal lowest), 6 (lowest).

BTW Lowest means below Naby as the worst.

Comments:
Perhaps the only player in Jurgen Klopp’s XI at Norwich to hamper their prospects was Oxlade-Chamberlain.

On a night when he perhaps more than anybody else in red needed to prove his quality, Oxlade-Chamberlain had a dire first half, most of which was spent chasing his own mistakes. No team-mate lost possession more often and only one finished the game with a lower passing accuracy.

Having a comedy game, which frankly doesn’t sound good. Unless someone slapped a custard pie in his grid and a piano dropped on his head off a cliff, it’s probably a sign that he’s not played well there first half. Hang on, I got a text as well. “It’s mad how shite The Ox is”. Not my words them. Feels harsh. Was alright second half in fairness. Great energy, and great pressure and looked after the ball.

Occasional good moment but too often held on to the ball too long and wasted energy mopping up his own mistakes. Kept going and better second half with assist for Minamino’s second.

If Keita was anonymous in the first half, Oxlade-Chamberlain was, unfortunately, worse.
The No. 15 switched to the left flank after the break, with Minamino taking up duties in midfield, and given space to run into he was slightly more impressive – but there’s a lot more to do.

* He was just lost and clueless from the start, with just an assist as a positive contribution this game, raising his rating to a 7.

The chances have not been forthcoming for Oxlade-Chamberlain of late, and the performance on Tuesday showed just why he is so far down the pecking order. The former Arsenal midfielder just could not get going, failing to get involved as much as he would have liked, even though he did play a couple of key passes. Has to make massive improvements.

I think the fact that we became more solid in the 2nd half coincides with the fact that Keita (another poor performer) and Ox were removed from the midfield.

I think there is something very wrong with the both of them when a forward and a 18 year old kid had to step into midfield to bail both of them out.

There is no other reason for pulling Minamino back and shifting Ox upfront if it was working well.

Yep Morton came on and actually gave us some stability.
