Really ? I thought he made a couple of mistakes during the first half that almost cost us. I may have to watch the game again.

He did, but the rest of the time he was very good. His play was far more decisive than usual. He's been out for a long period, it shouldn't be a surprise that needs games to get properly match sharp

t was another day of frustration for Liverpool as points were dropped for the third time this season, but a big concern for fans is the misuse of Mohamed Salah after another game on the periphery.
Jurgen Klopp‘s side were not without their chances in the 0-0 draw at Everton, with Jordan Pickford’s Man of the Match award showing as much.

Roberto Firmino, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Salah all had chances to find the net, but the latter played much of the match on the periphery, with Liverpool not finding a way to get the ball to his feet.
It has left fans baffled, not just on Saturday, but throughout the season so far, with the team not making consistent attempts to put him in the danger areas.
When he did have the ball late on against Everton he started to have an influence but by then it was too late, and Liverpool fans know something has to change.

Salah is key for this side and in a season of change in multiple departments across the pitch he can be the difference maker, but Liverpool must get him more involved.
Everything is a touch lethargic for the Reds and there are so many reasons you can point to for just that, and you sense everything is snowballing and creating frustration for players and fans alike.
There is no give in the schedule, though, to lament on a result for too long and this time is no different with a trip to Napoli on Wednesday. But one thing is for sure, the Reds have to improve. And fast.

Every team we have played so far have been sitting back and waiting to hit us on the break. We have not had the fast breaks and space Salah needed to be effective and he is living off scraps. Klopp needs to find a way to involve Salah more. It doesn't help that somehow Salah is staying out wide with Trent cutting inside at every opportunity.

Dropped 50% of points already. 7 points behind City when they win later. The league was gone ages ago, but there will be a battle for top 4, and this lot don't look up for it.

This a worrying stat. Lack of intensity and work rate.

#lfc have been out run in every single match this season.
Minimum 1.7k fewer than opponent, max 7k, average 3.4k per match

Yeah - but that’s misleading as we generally have a significantly higher possession percentage, so teams are having to run more to close us down.

I take the point though, there’s something missing in our game - intensity and quality wise - I wonder if tweaks to accommodate Nunez are actually harming our overall play.

In saying that, there’s far too many simple passes being misplaced - Trent being a key culprit.

Agree but, before anyone says it, this does NOT include playing Salah down the middle where he's never been as good as he is out wide, precisely because he never gets that kind of space in the centre.

If your goal is to finish top 6 that's not a bad result. Everton are undoubtedly one of the worst teams in the league.

Is this what it's come to, the high point of the game is no major injuries?

No not at all, but coming out of a derby against that lot, not big injuries is a big thing. Ask VVD.
You can still easily get top four after dropping points in a Merseyside derby. It’s the games against mid and lower table teams we have no history with that we need to wallop. We have a team with no great partner for VVD, a half baked midfield and new striker who has yet to find his feet.
With a full squad back and fit, we should make top four. Forget the league. Not a chance.

I'll disagree with that. The chances we're creating aren't clear cut, they're relying on ridiculous ability or luck to convert.

I am genuinely worried about our creativity
Thiago will change that. But with just Fabs and the kids, it’s not gonna change any time soon unless the new lad kicks on and fast.

Dunno about two dropped. It’s a derby away so it’s always tricky. No massive injuries and a clean sheet. Their keeper motm so not a bad game after all.
Pickford made to very good saves which he put onto the post, the rest of the chsncrzz were either straight at him or basically just easy fodder for even a half decent keeper. Wouldnt read to much into the game giving him motm

It's bleeding obvious we're short of quality in the middle of the park. Everyone's been saying it for ages too, but i didn't think it was this bad, until today. The lethargy, Salah, Trent, lack of movement, drop in concentration in defense, it's all closely linked. We need that midfielder desperately now - Tchouaméni would be perfect in our team. What a shame.

FSG better be working hard on that Jude deal in January, otherwise, this season will be a write off.

We need at least one top drawer CM. Unless Melo fits in well. In which case he and one other should be enough.

Haven't been looking at the table much, because, you know, surprised that we're as high as 6th after a pretty awful start to the season. Having Matip back now and hopefully Thiago soon too, maybe we can get into a more comfortable top four position with a semi decent run.

Top one mate. Top one.

It is. Once we get Thiago and King Arthur up to speed we are gonna tear shit up.

According to professional scout and LFC fan Jan Riha, possession is not really a mitigating factor for us here:

==========
We have been TOP2 with City across every season since Klopp/Guardiola in high intensity sprints even with 60-70% average possession, it doesn't have any influence. High intensity sprints / distance are more important than the total ground covered. It's also what made us US and made the difference. We are ridiculously down on these compared to any other Klopp season - that combined with the soft-tissue injuries suggest screwed pre-season.
