Hang on I thought £14.95 was doing it at cost, is a tenner covering costs or not?

They should listen to Mike Ashley, every pound they drop in price increases the viewing figures. £5 sounds like the right place to be for cost v viewing numbers.

Sky and BT are charging the clubs cost price. Everything above that goes into clubs coffers.

I’d pay £5 to watch us.

Exactly! If one of those networks/streaming sites offered every game available in HD/4k whatever for £25/month you’d probably see a huge drop off in streams. The competition laws/greed of tv companies means we will never see that.
We all would;it would be a nail into sky's coffin too, huzzah !

Same, double figures is a solid no though.

Although to be perfectly honest it's probably too late to get me to pay them anything. I pay for a legal service, nbsn peacock, via vpn which costs $5 a month and showed the Sheffield United match.

They have a free trial which I tried with 2 VPN services. Only 1 server would let me through but the speed was too slow to actually get a decent stream.

Maybe I got lucky with the server on nordvpn but it has been fine so far this season for me.

I used VyprVPN and Surfshark. I did some digging round and both have the issue of peacock being aware they’re a vpn.

Jumping through hoops to get decent services. I might try DAZN, looks like it has everything for 20 CAD per month

What does NBSN get you matches wise for $5pm ?

Might have to look into it

I tried that and get the same issues as above. Nord might be a service that can get around.

Peacock (nbc online with more than just sport) only stream 144 games a season. You can get sling tv which is $30/month which has all nbcsn games.

Its crazy we have to jump through hoops to get games in our own country anyway.

When the rest of the world watch them all for one price.

I can't think of another country or another sport which would tolerate this in their own country.

Sky/BT have lost 10s of millions with the closure of pubs, bars and restaurants, this where PPV comes in, trying to cover some of the lost revenue

The Premier League is expected to abandon the practice of showing matches on pay-per-view, after clubs finally acknowledged their almost universal unpopularity.

A widespread backlash against pay-per-view saw supporter groups raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity rather than pay the £14.95 the league had asked fans to hand over to watch their clubs on TV.

The league’s shareholder clubs are expected to confirm a return to the model of showing all games live, with the majority on the subscription channels Sky and BT Sport, while matches continue to be played behind closed doors. In September the BBC and Amazon Prime Video also showed one match each.

Although the switch is not confirmed, with clubs still to rubber-stamp the change and get the buy-in of broadcasters, the clear expectation is that PPV will be dropped, with new plans put in place until the end of the year at the earliest.

Last month the Premier League’s chief executive, Richard Masters, said the £14.95 price was “defensible”, and BT also argued the case, saying it was only covering its costs in screening the matches. Figures for the first nine PPV matches suggested that an average of 40,000 viewers had paid, with some matches recording far smaller [/article]

PPV has been scrapped till at least the new year. Amazon and BBC have games from the next tranche of televised games.

The Premier League today announces that all fixtures from Saturday 21 November, and throughout the Christmas and new year period, will be made available to fans to watch live in the UK.

Working with our broadcast partners, and with the support of clubs, all matches will be shown via existing Sky Sports, BT Sport, Amazon and BBC services.

Details of the first additional selections covering the period until the end of November are announced today.

December and January selections will follow in due course alongside our usual UK live matches.

Accessible solution for fans
There is a full schedule of Premier League matches over the festive period and clubs are committed to an accessible solution for fans.

These plans have been made with the cooperation of our broadcast partners, working with us to deliver these additional matches while stadiums are missing the supporters who are such an integral part of the game.

Review in the new year
The agreement will be reviewed in the new year following consultation with clubs, broadcast partners and in line with any decisions made by Government regarding the return of spectators to stadiums.

The Premier League and our clubs remain committed to the safe return of fans as soon as possible.

E season tickets should have been sorted out from the day dot.. not rocket science. Could have been sold globally too..

Though you suspect the smaller PL clubs wanted to avoid this model as they would potentially be opening a massive can of worms, potentially leading to a smaller sliice of the pie in the long term

And the current TV agreements in place could have also been a sticking point..
