That game is my first Liverpool memory. I was in my kitchen wondering why my brothers were so animated watching the game.
I still haven't watched us win a league title. Really hope I get to experience one.

You didn't watch the following season?

Would it be worth you while putting 5k on Real or would that ruin the buzz?

I've looked at it and hedging the bet wouldn't add any more value to the winning amount with Madrids odds as they are so if I'm gonna do that I'd rather just cash out than put 6:7k on Real.

Fuck that

I am not a betting man but I was thinking if you put lets say 8k on Real to win you would get your money back plus another 5k maybe.
Thus meaning you make a profit of 4.5 k over your stake on both your bets.
If Liverpool win you collect 18k but your offset bet brings the profit down to 10k
If you cash out you get 6k.
Or am I getting it wrong?
Unless you don't want to jinx us winning number six in which case I say "Respect"

Colin Murray: I knew this was going to happen

BACK in September, I said Liverpool were perfectly set up to win the Champions League this season. The pace to match Europe’s top sides, an almost-permanent cup final mentality and the explosiveness to expose big teams who feel compelled to come out and attack them.

Unfortunately, I said all of this to my friends, in private. Honestly, I didn’t have the balls to write about it in my column, for fear of ridicule.

However, here’s my mate Tom Cassidy to confirm I said it.

‘Yes. He said it.’

There you go. Concrete proof, in case you don’t believe me.

A lot will be written about how Liverpool and Real Madrid match up, but I can’t help but think like a fan first. Whether it’s the top table of European football or the domestic play-off finals that very same weekend, they are moments that stand the test of time which will keep you warm at night or haunt you forever.

When I think back to Istanbul in 2005 I still burst with memories that could make a kangaroo in the North Pole sweat. The equalising goal, Dudek’s wonder save from Shevchenko, and the slow-motion euphoria of that winning moment.

But it’s the small things as well.Finding out the beer in the fan park was alcohol free, prompting thousands of Redmen to commandeer fleets of taxis to take them into the surrounding hills to procure the proper stuff. Absolute bedlam!

There were nine of us who travelled together, all connected by football. For our entire lives, up until that date, we had endured endless stories from our elders about Liverpool’s European glory days of the late 70’s and early 80’s. In one perfect night, we had our own to pass down through the ages.

We made a huge ‘Bullseye’ themed flag with ‘You Can’t Beat A Bit of Istan-bully’ emblazoned on it and a picture of Bully in a Liverpool top.

This time, I’m leaning towards ‘Mo Salah, Mo Problems’, with a picture of the man himself in a massive gold chain with ‘The Notorious LFC’ written along the bottom.

Two years later, we faced AC Milan in the final again, this time in Athens. I could tell you it wasn’t well organised, that the fan park was a little dull. However, the bottom line is we lost and it was horrible.

A journey home, cursed by hangovers and broken hearts. Football fans mark their lives by such occasions, and I can’t believe Istanbul was 13 years ago.

There are young adults who can’t really remember, or at least appreciate, Liverpool in a European Cup final, and they will now be looking for their story to fire back at the likes of myself when I start telling them about the half-time singing of You’ll Never Walk Alone at the Ataturk stadium.

And what a final it could be this time. It possibly throws up the safest bet in football this season — both teams to score.

Liverpool have played this tournament like a basketball team, 40 goals in all, with Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane the second, third and fourth highest scorers in the competition. The only man ahead of them is a certain Cristiano Ronaldo.

I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised at a 4-3 final score, but my head and heart still lean towards Liverpool.

Real leave gaps, especially Marcelo at left-back, and if there is one thing you can’t do against this electric Liverpool attack it’s give them space. They will rip you to shreds.

Problem is, the very same man will help cause similar problems at the other end, but you can’t see either team adjusting adequately enough to change the script.

Heavy metal football. That’s what you said, right Jurgen? In that case, on May 26, make it Slayer.

Either way, it is another chapter in the life of this Liverpool fan that will live forever or be buried deep in the part of my memory reserved for big sporting losses, teenage fashion disasters and the first time I had sex.

He would need to be doing Madrid to win the cup. A 90 min draw could scupper him.

[article]Real Madrid fans may feel slightly aggrieved this morning after the Uefa.com portal published an image claiming that Liverpool are the winners of the 2017/18 Champions League.

The error which appeared in both the English and Spanish language version of the site
featured a montage of various players from both finalists including (Kroos, Cristiano, Ramos, Salah, Van Dijk and Firmino) along with the text: "Season 2017/18 Winner Liverpool" accompanied with the shield of the Anfield based outfit.

The mistake was soon rectified by the Nyon based organisation as the countdown to the biggest game in European football in Kiev looms on the horizon.[/article]
