Which is still irrelevant on a global scale. The whole world watches the CL Final and if you win that your standing goes through the roof. I get the provincial mind-set over the international one - I lived more than 20 years of my life on Merseyside - but times have changed as FFF said, it's likely the younger generation of fans prefer the CL too because beating the likes of Barca & Madrid to the trophy is a greater feat. Or maybe I just saw us win too many titles when growing up, whereas winning the CL never gets old, it's always a massive buzz.
I don't give a tin fuck about "global scale" or whatever that means. And if you think wanting to win the title over the CL is "provincial" then you can fuck off too

Doesn't matter... We can't win the league this year but we can win CL.. going all hysteric over something like that is just pathetic. Enjoy this moment and we can celebrate the league next season.

If we were winning league titles regularly, then Big Ears would be the bigger prize, and the likes of Man City would probably swap a league for the CL right now, and I'd bet most of their players and backroom staff (and their Arab owners) would go along with that. For us, there is a desperation to win the league that means I'd take a league title any day. It doesn't need a second thought.

Although maybe you should try and reflect why most Liverpool fans* would prefer to win the title again than the CL, and respect that.

It is perhaps correct that fans more interested in a "global scale" might not agree, which would then beg the question about the difference between certain types of Liverpool fans and their viewpoints about trophies and their value/ desirability.

And more often than not I still refer to the European Cup and the title / league / championship rather than the Champions League or Premier League respectively. I'm also old enough to remember everything we've won since the mid-70s and I've seen us win playing badly, lose playing well, riding our luck and being cruelly denied. All of the wins were ace, all of the losses were like daggers through the heart. I think Macca's had a bump on the head.
