It's all we really have to aim at in the league and pathetic as that is I really fucking hope we do.
Nah GT, I've always defended Skrtel when there's been criticism, to me his importance to our team was obvious long before he got injured. There are better CB's around but he's easily in the top 60 in the world and probably the top 30.
There's a reason why Chelsea and City were both after him a few seasons ago and both with £25m+ bids, and he's comfortably better than the CB's they eventually signed i.e. Mangala, Ottamendi and Cahill.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't be looking for 2 new first choice CB's but at present Skrtel; is streets ahead of our other CB's, has a few years left in him and could prove excellent cover if we do find 2 world class CB's.
Skrtel has a lot of great defensive qualities but his positioning is awful. He always has a tendency to drop deeper than the rest of the back four.
Back to my point Hansern; he doesn't do this when he plays for Slovakia! He only does it at LFC because he's covering all the other 3 positions and by dropping back (almost sweeper-like) he can see where the next fuck-up by Moreno, Sakho, etc is coming from. The signing of Clyne has helped because at least there are fewer problems now on that side.

Just recently against West Ham, Coutinho and Tex were flicking balls left and right and finding each other with ease.
Now against Sunderland Coutinho had another top class performance.

Agger and Skittles were an awesome partnership for a couple of season....it would be amazing to have something like that again....it would totally be mind blowing to get a Hyypia/Carra kind of partnership too.

Their last five games in the league showed better form than us. 0-6. Give the "shit squad" some credit when it's due.

That Villa performance was one of the worst I've ever seen against us. It was a great game for some players to gain some confidence and brilliant to see Firmino, Sturridge and Coutinho link up for the first time. I hope this is the start of a sustained run of good results for us because we really do need it. But it's not the sort of game you can read much into. By the end I was just pitying their fans who turned up to watch Villa play. It was embarrassing.

As shambolic as Villa were yesterday, and have been all season, that was a really impressive showing of ruthless finishing and capitalising on some dire defending.

Thought Rodgers was trying to replace Agger with Williams. Instead he went ahead and got Sakho and then Lovren who are arguably not better. Be careful what you wish for, eh?
On another point, why do new managers always think their old players are better than wahs's already there? Hodge the podge brought us Poulsen and Konchesky.
So true, and lets not forget that they beat Norwich last week ? - something we failed to do. They also beat Crystal Palace at their ground ... something we also failed to do. Apparently the commentator said they had not lost at home in the PL since losing to Arsenal on 13th December. In that time we have lost quite a few games and like MOM says - they have shown better resistance and form than us in recent games.
So what do we have here ? - we have a team that is not rubbish but more gutless, and fucking thick as they come. To be honest - I don't think Studge, and Coutinho were that essential for us to beat some of the teams we ended up losing to. If you look at our possession stats - we are nearly always on top in every game we have played. But our final third and approach as near the goal has been diabolical - not because of a lack of talent but because most of these guys are:-
1) Thick
2) Lazy and decide not to turn up properly for certain games (i.e. Newcastle, Watford)
You cannot compare some of the shit we have seen from them this season when you think back to the way we dominated games against City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Southampton in the League cup - yes I include that one because we played with 2nd teamers vs a nearly full Southampton team. Yet what hurts me as a fan about this season is that it could be us in Leicester's position this season if ONLY for a bit of consistency and use of brain. Fucking idiots the lot of them - I hate Spurs, for being so high up this season - honestly don't rate them - I hope we fucking kill them all and City when we come up against them. Don't know why - I just feel we have a better team than most but only the team don't realize.
Oh yeah - the commentators for Sundays game on Sky - pointed out something very important - some of the LFC players were playing for their future - damn fucking right they are.
Too bad Benteke couldn't. It was a perfect night for us otherwise: Sturridge and Origi back in the goals, Coutinho with the assists, Can and Toure's first goals in the EPL for the club, broken the hoodoo of not scoring from a corner, even a clean sheet for Mignolet and the defense.

Away at Citeh, best performance of the season, Coutinho and Lallana played.
If I remember it correctly Lallana wasn't involved in any of the goals.
The whole side was ace on Sunday... but as soon as I saw that Sturridge and Coutinho were playing I backed us to win 4, 5 or 6 nil... Because they are the difference between an average side and a very good one.
And? You said he plays better without Lallana. I pointed out a game where that certainly wasn't the case.
I know, I'm saying that they just don't play well together. That game is further evidence of that. Coutinho and Lallana played on opposite sides and rarely combined during that game.
